There is no way we pay Duran $1.4 haha half the AAA roster could put up what he did this year

Half the AAA roster can't throw 100 mph and play 7 positions, though. Just sayin'

Guess it is time for plenty of clickbait and speculation.

Willson Contreras is rumored to being shopped by StL. He has been a C but in '25 was primarily a 1B. Owed $18M, $18.5, $5M buyout for '28. 34 in May.

Could function like Carver. 1B, DH, and some C.

Could move Burger (A1) and/or Heim (A3).

Might be able to swap Pederson's $18M for Contreras' $18M and then Rangers just take the $23.5 remaining on Contreras' deal. That unloads salary from StL.

Arenado might be another to watch. Not sure I'm interested in him.

StL will be one to watch as they tear everything down.

Just watched Mitch Garver hit a textbook sac fly to drive in Seattle's first run of the game. Have really missed that from the Rangers' hitting.

Without changing a single piece, and assuming everyone is mostly healthy, I think this lineup would have made the play-offs:

Osuna/Duran - RF
Carter/Helman - CF
Langford - LF
Seager - 1B
Freeman - 2B
Smith - SS
Jung - 3B
Heim/Higashioka - C
Burger/Tellez - DH

Semien/Garcia/Pederson - bench/gone
Now, I've just benched $54M in 2025 salary and made the team better.

You may disagree that it's a playoff team, but does anybody disagree that
a: the defense is still very good
b: the lineup is better

Discuss.

Yeah, regular season is so low-key. Play .550 ball and you get a spot. Lose 70 games, no biggie.

Garver is another guy that hasn't been the same since 23.

Wow. Montero walks the winning run after going 0-2, makes an errant pick off throw, hits the next guy, and goes 3-0 on the next guy. After a gift 3-0 strike, he gets a floyout and a DP ball.

Neither team wants to win apparently. Atrocious situational hitting the last few innings

There were about 4 terrible calls in that inning
0-2 to the leadoff called a ball
The HBP not being called foul
A bunt at the plate that looked like it was in fair territory called foul (this one was close)
3-0 to Crawford called a strike.

Averaged out to the correct outcome.

You know what we need to see in this situation? A swing off!
94chem
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah, probably. Somebody deserves to win this by actually hitting a ball.

No, a bunt-off. Like a golf chipping contest.

I'll be as big a Freeman fan as anyone, but there is no scenario in which you'd bench Semien to give Freeman the nod.

Semien is a 3x All-Star, 2x SS, a GG, and 3 times finished 3rd in MVP voting. Prior to 2025, he missed 3 games in 4 seasons. He has a career 109 OPS+ and finished 2025 at 97... his lowest in 5 years. Avgs about a 4.9 WAR.

Freeman has 121 career MLB PAs. 75 OPS+, and -0.2 WAR.

Semien has a career 98.9 Fld% and a 4.12 range factor for his career. 99.6/3.99 in '25. 2E in 127GS
Freeman has a career 97.7 Fld% and a 3.13 range factor for his career. At 2B, 97.2, 3.63 and 2Es in 20GS

Happy for the SEA fans. Never wanted them to win, since TEX hadn't won. I'd like for them to get one. They made great moves at the deadline.

Having your 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 hitters go a combined 1 for 29 is a great way to lose a win or go home game.
94chem
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Semien is the least likely to go anywhere, and that's the least disruptive switch. But maybe he doesn't need 160 games.
