For those who stayed up and watched last night -- nitpicky, but don't understand the defensive alignment on the last batter.

Crawford isn't a burner, but he's not slow. Centerfielder and right fielder at their current depths would have zero chance of throwing him out on a sac fly.

Additionally, Polanco is a significant pull hitter and rarely goes oppo in the air.

Bases loaded, 1 out, winning run on 3rd you're pretty much completely up against it. Strikeout, popout or groundball that finds an infielder are your only hopes.

In that scenario I think you have to gamble and shift your left fielder to shallow center and play with two right fielders (no shift rules for outfielders).

Thoughts?

The OF depth is really only a problem if the winning run is at 2nd. Assuming it's a flyball and not a line drive, playing a little deeper helps you get behind the ball.

anyone else cheering for Seattle vs Toronto
God loves you so much He'll meet you where you are. He also loves you too much to allow to stay where you are.

Yeah, SEA has great fans, and since the Rangers finally got one, I'm okay with SEA doing it too.

I give zero ****s who wins this. Just want to see some good, competitive playoff baseball. Love the intensity of playoff baseball.

I've got a soft spot for the Mariners. My two favorite players growing up were Pudge and Griffey Jr.

Yep, F Canada. I don't mind seeing Seattle get to the WS at all, although would love to see the Brew Crew win it all

How late of a tag up did the Dodger's runner at 3rd get to be thrown out from 400 feet away? I'm guessing he left when the ball first touched the glove and then went back to re-tag when the center fielder bobbled it (even though he didn't need to)?
Edit: I just saw a replay that showed that's exactly what happened. Runner on 3rd re-tagged when he didn't have to.

He definitely went back to retag.

This is a corner case rule, but I think what you are saying is what I remember on the tag. Is this accurate - once it hits the glove, the runner is safe to tag and go (bobble or not)? This would be to keep the defense from playing games with the tag and play. Is that accurate?

Yes, that's correct. You can tag up as soon as the ball hits the glove the first time. If you had to wait until the catch was completed the outfielder could intentionally juggle it while coming in to the infield.
