Well that solves the issue of how long it will take to put him on the 60 day and free up a 40 man spot. It's immediately and the spot is free for the season.

Yea for us. I guess.

his other ankle is the messed up one that sank some big contracts right? can they go ahead and operate on it and fix it also?

So…

2 starting OFers in Meyers and Loperfido, plus the backup in Trammell. Call it 2.5 of 5. Only Smith and Matthews survived. Half.

Peña and Correa. Half the infield. Add in Allen, who was the backup to Peña.

Diaz. Starting C

Brown, Imai and Javier. 3 of 5 starters.

All since the season started. That's not counting injuries before the season. Half of the field players and more than half of the SP in less than a month. That's insane.

The only hope we have is that Brown, Imai, Hader, Pena, Loperfido, and Meyers all coming back in the somewhat near future.
Actually our best hope is that our division is hot garbage. However, that's only for purposes of making the playoffs. Zero chance this team can do anything if they get to that point.

If Brown comes back and stays healthy the rest of the year, it the rotation won't actually be terrible. If Hader gets back and is in form, the bullpen strengthens, and I think they've found a few more reliable pieces.

I think the chances are not zero. They are still low, but not zero.

I assumed he fouled a ball into his shin and broke something. How did he tear a ligament in batting practice?

Hopefully Shewmake can keep playing well. Would be nice for him to turn out to be a nice everyday player or at least solid replacement option.

Having a lefty bat in the infield is nice

Still worth it. Best run this city has ever seen.

This is now basically the same team from last year
minus Framber
minus Dubie

Pitching overall is worse, but the offense is better. Pitching SHOULD get better with Brown and Hader coming back -- eventually.

Not to be a sunshine pumper, BUT --- this team still has pieces to compete without CC.

Remember, Dana traded for CC for leadership and because Yordan and Paredes were hurt.

I think we can still reach the 87 wins as long as the guys currently on the DL can contribute in the coming weeks.

I agree! I would rather stomach the three 100+ loss seasons for a chance at a massive run over potentially being the post 2005 World Series Astros.

What if the three becomes 5?

Is there another way to do it without risking a long run of 100+ losses or completely non-competitive baseball?

So be it. I've seen greatness and I want that. Not best case scenario of a middling team that goes on a run and faces the Dodgers in the World Series.

The team is getting worse, the division getting tougher and parity is less. We need young players under club control to win.

The post 05 WS team spent years doing what we are doing right now. Crane bought the team in 2011 and THEN did a full rebuild. We could do just that and be in the same situation we are today 5 years from now with nothing to show.

Exactly why many of us thought it was a failed strategy from the start.

Yep. But now that it's ended so abruptly… I really look at that 2023 ALCS with more disdain.

Imagine 3 titles in 7 seasons (including back to back post scandal where nobody could deny it)

That one hurt, especially since it was Arlington...but 2019 was the one that got away for me. That team was all-time great and then just couldn't get a WS win at home.

Agree on not 0 but don't full yourself on the rotation. Lambert got it done but with a 4:4 BB:K ratio. Thats not going to get it done 95% of the time. Arrighetti has the same problem. Both of those guys are going to start getting rocked again if they don't lay off the walks (and there's no indication they can).

2019 is brutal too but also the scandal came out like 2 weeks after so you know it would still not be a respected title.

But 2022 and 2023 back to back couldn't be denied.

We got caught in 2023 by every single Ranger having a career year and of course roided up Garcia

Depth was always the argument for keeping him or at least not feeling urgency to do so. We're getting to the point where it doesn't really matter. The team has no pitching and Altuve and CW are at an age where 145+ games seems highly unlikely. Hopefully Dezenzo is ready to man a corner spot soon if need be.

And not being able to score at home. Also didn't help to have a Framber meltdown in game 2

After watching Framber's meltdown in Detroit, I am so glad he's gone. Just a big baby.

And for Hinch to admit that it didn't feel right to clear the bench in support of him… wow.

Will be interesting to see if the team disciplines Framber independent of whatever the league hands down. Looked to me like during the onfield discussions, Hinch was telling Boston some version of "We will take care of it". Pretty clear that Hinch thought it was intentional and wasn't on board.

Think Crane traded for Correa more than Dana did.
