Guess a lot depends on your skill level, comfort, and finally, what you like to see. Many divers get the big stuff out the way and then love going to spots with the small stuff. Some people love wrecks, but others have no interest, etc. what about a live aboard? Some places are incredible but you have to do them on a live aboard.
A few spots (and have seen some mentioned already)…
Socorro (live aboard), South Africa, Palau (actually a mix) with some strong currents, great choice but dive sites far from shore so better as a live aboard
Macro: Raja Ampat (very diverse, chance for mantas, live aboard), Bonaire/Curacao
Walls: Cayman's (not been), some nice walls in Turks & Caicos islands too which used to have great diving but not been for years. Again, many dive sites far from shore.
Fiji: some beautiful soft corrals and there's some good shark dives but they chum
Hawaii and Yap: both good for mantas.
Egypt: never been but know people who love the diving
Truk: Mecca for wrecks.
Florida and the Carolinas has some good diving. I've only dived in FL though
England: has some great diving but cold water. Tons of wrecks.
