This is very very frustrating. I thought I was being conservative in anticipating an $8-12 share price going into drilling. Seeing the stock shoot up to $7.75 a year before drilling and well before 3D on just rumors of a JVP will do that to you I guess. The shorts dominated.

why short a stock that is basically worthless? It has already lost 90% of it's value. As I said earlier, it will get bought and MAYBE the shareholder will get a little. I'd rather play in areas where the downside hasn't basically been covered. It's all a casino anyway. I've lost on quite a few hands, too. The beauty is to know when to get the hell out.

No matter what news, mostly negative or non-event, that comes out Third is there to defend and explain away. He likes to say "not surprising" or "not unexpected.". He loves to mention manipulation and those nefarious "shorts.". When questioned or called a sunshine pumper he posts his standard response, "post you short position buy puts etc." even though shorts can do due diligence and have their own thesis, ie. company does not have the capital to drill and find oil. Talks about rising "tute" ownership. Three of the top six holders are index providers. Meaning they do not own and buy because they believe oil will be found. They buy and own because an index includes HDY in their index. As a result any index mutual fund or index ETF provider, such as Blackrock, State Street, or Vanguard, has to own the stock in order to track the index.
Third, I admire your bullishness and willingness to commit capital to this stock. However, step away for a moment and realize why,to some, you are in fact a sunshine pumper.

Quit calling 3rd a sunshine pumper and do your own research. Go read the IV HDY board. 3rd looks like a bear compared to some of those guys. This board should be used to ask questions and pose ideas, not attack people and fight like little kids.

Seems to have settled at $1.40 premarket which is interesting to me bc i would've thought bad results would've tanked this near worthless. There's either some residual value remaining in this stock or the open will shake it all out. Should be interesting to watch.
Dub...how exactly would the stock be worthless? Obviously a commercial discovery would have been ideal, but ultimately the exploration well was supposed to tell us more about the concession and give us a better idea of where to drill next. At the end of the day, Hyperdynamics is still sitting on a huge lease.
Also the 3d seismic results next month should be good. This first well just basically said the oil is not at this exact location in commercial quantities but it wasn't a dry hole. They'll take the Sabu info with the new deeper water seismic and figure out where to drill next.

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that no more negative news geologically is coming and that there is potential for diversification, revenue on balance sheet, and/or partner.

They drilled and found evidence of oil ("hydrocarbon system"
, but not evidence of commercial quantities. There is some optimism the 3D analysis and the finding of some oil will lead to better outcomes within the concession. Who/what/how/when is up in the air, at the moment.

So what's the plan going forward? They're going to interpret the 3D and then drill another hole somewhere hoping they hit?
I wouldn't say oil was found, I would say presence of a hydrocarbon system was verified.
