Does anyone know when he will be coming back to Dallas or Houson?

Looking to a couple of suits done.

Damn. This guy has such a loyal following. Is the clothing quality that solid? Compared to CT or Brooks Brothers?

Yes. It's true tailored clothing. You've got about 10lbs of fudge room before you're screwed

True that. I've got a nice white collared shirt with some A&M details that I'm about 15 lbs too fat to wear.

Yeah the suits I had made were unwearable. The blazer and dress shirts were legit.

Did you gain or lose a lot of weight since you were measured?

The only time I've ever had trouble with the fit was when I gained weight. He's usually pretty transparent in that he defaults to making stuff "snug" in a European style. If all you've ever worn is stuff off the rack, which tends to have lots of extra material in places, then the first time you order custom clothing from anywhere it can feel different and snug. I prefer my stuff to not be as fitting as he would typically make it so I simply tell him that I want it with extra room in the area where I want extra room. I've used him for years, I have multiple friends that use him, and all have been repeat customers for a while.

If you're worried about the "snug" thing the first time you meet him, that's why he asks you to wear/bring slacks/shirts/jackets that you currently wear so that he can see how you like them to fit and where you'd like like things adjusted. That makes it a pretty easy process.

I didn't lose wait…all the pants I had sucked. The jeans were unwearable with how baggy they were in weird places. Trashed them immediately. The slacks were ok, a little looser than I'd like but not terrible. Pockets were like 12" deep, though. With the direct to consumer brands that allow customized fit I've found better for cheaper.

Shirts were also ok. Really no issue with them other than they were pretty expensive if you wanted to upgrade material for something that's standard most places like non-iron. So same as above, with options on sites like CT, better materials for far less.

And these are with no weight loss/gain and I gave him multiple chances. Same every time.

I do like the blazer I got from him. The only thing I'd consider ordering again. Even that though I had to fight him to get something fairly plain and not have the inside scream with Aggie fabric and my initials on the sleeve….

No. I've been 175-180lbs for about 10 years.

Initials on the sleeve of your blazer?

And that's interesting on the jacket liner. I've never once had him push me on anything. He typically 100% defers to me on what I want on the inside unless I'm having trouble trying to find something that compliments the color/style. Then I'll ask his opinion and he'll give it. He does try to upsell but that's his job and business and I don't have an issue smiling and saying "no thanks".

The primary downside to using him, as opposed to someone local for custom stuff, is that he gets one chance to measure with no chance to adjust/edit. That does allow for a mistake sometimes but any time that's happened to anyone I know he's always made it right.

Just my $.02

Very nice man. I'd just recommend to stay away from the blue jeans. They are just weird shaped and it's uncomfortable to sit down.

I have about a dozen suits or sports coats and probably 2-3 dozen dress shirts made by him. I don't buy my suits elsewhere. Does an occasional shirt or suit come in a bit snug, yes. Does he fix it at no charge, of course. Based on the experience one of my friends had, my friend never had custom clothes, and sucked it in while being measured. So his shirts came in snug. Bobby redid the entire set, losing money but making sure my friend was happy. I'll continue to use him every chance I need.

I had an order of shirts come in one time with the monogram wrong. It was one wrong letter, it wasn't that big of a deal, I didn't care one bit. I did tell him about it because I like the guy, and I wanted him to know in case one of his seamstresses made the same mistake again for a less forgiving (or maybe a new) client. Without me asking, a few weeks later I received a box with all of the shirts, redone, with the correct monogramming. I even reached out again asking him why he did that and that I didn't need that…people don't even notice the monogramming anyway and I was the only one that would have known. He didn't care and said he wanted my stuff done right.

Smart business on his part. He might have earned a customer for life by sending a few free shirts to correct a mistake and I wasn't asking to be corrected.

I get my suits through Indochino not expensive and they fit well since my size is a pain to find

How do these compare?

point of clarification (in my case at least). He didn't "fix" anything himself.

When he messed up my jacket, he eventually agreed to pay for me to find an alterations person to fix it.

Worked out fine, and I understand it's not realistic from a timing/cost standpoint to send the thing back.

Others might have a different experience.

Did he offer to fix it for you? I get the shipping 2 ways doesn't make economic sense.

he offered to reimburse me (after arguing with me about different fits for a while).

I'm not a big alterations guy, so I was at a bit of a loss finding one that I had much faith in.

He wired me the money in the end. Just a bit of a clunky process when things aren't perfect.

I purchased a suit, blazer, & two shirts from Bobby 2 years ago.

I am ordering more shirts from him now after emailing him for fabric options. I will request a slightly larger bicep measurement. Weight lifting working. :-)

As noted above from previous poster, DO NOT GAIN WEIGHT. He took my measurements when I was 220. At 235, everything still fit, but was tight. At 205 now, everything still fits perfectly except for my biceps.

This was my first suit outside of Jos A Bank or Mens Wearhouse. Obviously, Bobby's stuff is better quality and fit.

I've received numerous compliments on the blazer fabric and the suit fit.

Tailoring is dime a dozen over in Asia....I would routinely go into Bangkok and get stuff made. I used 3-4 different folks over there in Singapore and Thailand, frankly it was all very similar, major difference was whether you wanted to pay for true Italian fabrics or not. I guarantee you this guy is making massive margins off his US clientele.

So what? He's not supposed to make a solid profit for his business model? Bobby's a super fun story of surviving and capitalism for those that get to know him. He's a really nice guy, loves his kid, and works his rear off.

I guess I don't understand why the bolded comment was made?

For those that haven't had tailored clothing before, it's like anything else: you get what you pay for. Bobby has cheaper cloth and he has higher end cloth, so if you want the good stuff, you simply ask him which books are what and he'll gladly point you that way.

As someone that's used him regularly for 7-8 years now, IMO he has one weakness and that is he only gets to measure you once. When you buy custom made clothes here in the states, you typically have 3-4 times where you're getting measured/adjusted during the process. If a mistake is made, or you would like something tweaked or adjusted, they catch it during one of the fittings and proceed from there. Bobby has one shot at it before you get the finished product. 4 out of 5 times he can nail it but there are times when he or the seamstresses miss. Anytime this has happened to me (twice) he's always corrected it and sent me a new product after I've sent him a video/pic of the issue. The flip side of that, is he's easily a third of the price of custom clothing here stateside.

With that in mind the way my math brain works is I can order from Bobby, and even with a mistake or two here and there (couple of shirts too tight, pair of pants that are a tiny bit long) I'm still coming out ahead financially by a mile. And that's assuming he's not the one paying to fix the issue…which he always has been.

He's made some adjustments through the years to alleviate the "one measurement" issue. On large orders especially, he'll usually make one jacket, one pant, one shirt, and ship them to the buyer so they can test everything out first. If they fit properly, he makes the rest of the order and sends it. If not, he makes the adjustments through a face-time or series of video messages, then he resends the originals with the large shipment.

Exactly Stive. He's made all my work clothes and some of my weekend (and Aggie) shirts for the last 10+ years. He comes to us and I don't have to go to Thailand although yall are welcome to run over there and get them cheaper if you'd like.

I have two sport coats from Bobby. Both exceeded my expectations- when I wear them I always get comments about how great they look. I've got a buddy who is a complete clothes horse dandy. He has even asked me for Bobby's info after inspecting my coats and the quality and details they put into each one

Has anyone order from bobby and had sizing issues
Too large/small? Tight around midsection, back or shoulders arms etc?

How did that get resolved?
