Ring backed a truly terrible idea in an industry that I am intimately familar and of course the predicatable has happended to said company. I understand that is the nature of private equity, spread your bets around knowing most will fail but hit a few doubles, and hopefully that one home run. But, this was truly a bet that never had a chance. To their credit, they have written down the investment to almost zero which does not always happen in these types of vehicles with public/retail money.
