Saw one of those "life is so unfair, it was easier for our parents, we just want a fair shot" rants on Twitter, someone replied that you can still find cheap houses.

What is the catch? Are these condemned? No job market in the town?

I see one is a trailer, but some of these look like tiny starter homes. Why haven't they been snapped up?

You can buy 50k houses in small towns all over the country including Texas. The catch is most of them are in areas with little economy, usually in the middle of nowhere and often if pretty bad shape. Or, in some larger cities with major issues in the upper midwest and in the south but the catch is you do not want to live in the area.

The city is giving away abandoned houses in Detroit. Or at least they were a few years ago.

The catch is that no one wants to exchange $50,000 in cold hard cash for the privilege of living there which is why they're still on the market.

There are some parts of the country (esp in cities) where most people wouldn't want to live even if you paid them.

Y'all need to watch Barbarian. That might be one of these houses. That movie was crazy as hell, but also a well earned 92% on rotten tomatoes.
