I could look, but I wonder how many US Amateur champions in the past 40 years never earned a PGA Tour card. Wouldn't be shocked if it were 0.

What rotten luck. Storms back after a terrible Thursday. Makes it just above the cut line before the storms, and then goes 2 over on the last 3 holes after the long delay and misses cut

Well, not what he wanted... but at least he made a cut. His Saturday round really hurt. Came in even par for 4 days of golf (none of us could do that). But in professional golf, that puts him in 78th place with a check big enough to cover his flight home and a pizza.

Being such a short hitter, unless he becomes spectacular with his short game, he'll never make the tour.
Sam is almost there, just can't seem to string good rounds together. Yesterday, he shoots -3 on the front nine, then bogeys both par 5's and cards a -1 for the day. That get's him tied for 86th. If he would've just scored par on the 2 par 5's on the back, he'd be -3 and in the pack (top 40). It's hard to earn your card by living on the cut line.
Round 2 underway... he just birdied #1, so that's a good start! C'mon Sam!!!

+2 today. T-134. Cut. 125 on the points list. I hadn't paid that much attention but saw the thread bump and took a look.
It's a hard way to make a living. The APT tour comes to my hometown and there are some pretty good players. Only a few survive with much success. Sam Stevens is one that come to mind.

Over 2 rounds:
10 birdies, 17pars - this is the good part.
7 bogeys - you can afford half that as a professional.
2 doubles - this is what needs to get cleaned up.
Doubles need to be a rare event, not a multiple event, and certainly not weekly.
This just sums up where his game is at right now.
Because of weather and play suspennsions, he basically played 36 today. Came back with clean card on 2nd round after a 70, Shot 65. Made cut when looked impossible.
Imo, clean cards are his ticket on these target courses.
Don't give up on him.. It's golf.. He can play. He's not Aberg, but he's learning to be a pro.

Last yr records scores as well. It's a pitch and putt; gotta go loooow 4 times. And these guys do. Hope -40 wins it.
