Does anyone here have any personal experience with the corp's cyber special unit? I think it has been an interesting addition and just wanted to get some other thoughts on it.

It's a definite need in the military and I'm just curious as to how well this unit fills that need.

Sounds cool. Also sounds like it could easily become and outfit of nerds. But in all seriousness, I don't know anything specifically about it. I just remember that the Corps has tried doing specialized career oriented units (technical/engineering outfits, preprofessional (law/med/PT/etc) outfits, architecture, etc. I know the engineering ones are hit or miss since so many fail out that most of the unit ends up being non-technical by the end. Not sure about the other ones.

Is the idea still to have people around you that took similar classes and can help you with schedules, career advice, and homework?

This is not a closed off outfit. They do a lot with the non-cadet, A&M Cybersecurity Club as well as get a lot of interaction with industry. Being aligned with the Corps there is a little more emphasis on military and government service but that is not the only focus.

Don't know much about it but I saw they participated recently in an exercise hosted at USAFA

Sounds like an extracurricular unit, like Rudder's Rangers, not a regular unit like a company or squadron
