Spent a day out there a couple of years ago and Branch & Bone brewery was top notch.

Also, I'm not much into aviation, but the National Museum of the US Air Force is phenomenal. The Wright Brothers National Museum was very interesting as well.

Great call, pretty solid

Turfman texted me today that the local total wine website showed Juicy Bits in stock. So after work I stopped by and found they have Extra Extra Juicy Bits. Unfortunately the date on the can is from May. But I'm a sucker and bought it anyway. Still pretty good.

We in the beer desert known as B/CS are grateful for whatever is eventually sent our way.

Glad their sours aren't $75+ a glass. Don't think I'll ever try an anchorage stout.

I tried a couple of Anchorage stouts including Blessed (4.74 on Untappd) and I just didn't get it.

Maybe I've lost the taste for syrupy uber sweet dessert stouts but it wasn't enjoyable. And I like dessert wines like port and Madeira but man their stouts were just sweetened motor oil.

Back in my old stomping grounds for 10 days or so. Flew into Portland ME. Staying tonight across the street from Maine Beer Company. Grabbed my first Dinner in a long time. Maybe 12-15 years. Just as good as I remember. Unfortunately no Breakfast.

Tupps Series 40 DDHIPA is damned delicious.

Saw this at HEB last night but they didn't put a date on the cans this time, so didn't know how old it was and therefore passed.

Trying again. We are in Boothbay Harbor Maine celebrating our 40th anniversary. We honeymooned here. Yesterday we went to Footbridge Brewery and had their Farm House which is an Apple Brandy barrel aged strawberry rhubarb saison. The fruit is subtle and It is very good. After that I had a flight of 4 off of their menu. I had an English Ale, a session hazy, a Kolsch and an American Strong Ale. Of those 4 the English Ale was best with the others just being ok.

Headed to the NCR (staying in the Balston area of Arlington) is churchkey still the go to spot? Any breweries worth venturing out for? Will have a car but staying right on the Metro as well.

Went to a couple of breweries today after lunch. First we went to AEkeir Brewing in Wiscasset. A tiny little place. I had the Wiscasset Grisette, Wifey got the Blackberry Sour. Mine was great, hers just OK. Afterwords we stopped at Boothbay Craft Brewery. It's a strange but cool place with kind of a hippie vibe. It's a brewery/ RV Park/ BBQ joint all rolled into one. Wifey and I both had their hazy called Thirsty Botanist which was delicious. First three pics AEkeir, last one Boothbay.

I had to google NCR. Most people just say DMV.

Churchkey was still the **** 3 years ago. You could hit Sovereign in Georgetown or Shelter in Capitol Hill, but those are still all the same company. Just different vibes.

Other Half and DC Brau are good in the city.

There is a Solace tasting room 5 miles from Ballston if you want to stay in VA.

Heading back south. Stopped at Mast Landing Brewery In Freeport for lunch. It's just a quarter mile or so from Maine Beer Co. I had a Windbreaker which is a hazy and very good. I've had it before. Wifey was beered out but tried a fruited sour called Magic Sunset Cake. It was a little too coconut for both of us. Afterwards we did a flight of 4 (circled). My preference order on the rack was 3,1,4,2 but all were good. We stopped at Maine Beer Company on the way by because they just released a fresh batch of Dinner so I picked up four bottles.

Hotel tonight has Oxbow Field Beer. Bartender was hesitant and gave a sample. He said people order it and send it back. I told him that Oxbow doesn't make mistakes and to serve it up. Outstanding.

That Chris Black guy seems like he is a big dbag.

I think a big part of it is oversaturation of the marketplace. Not just bars, but breweries themselves. I've lost count of how many breweries here in the Houston area have shut down in the past year or 2.

I've been meaning to post these from back in May. We've been able to visit Tree House Charlton at least once a year, sometimes more, since 2022. After Tree House, we made our way to St. Louis for some Blues hockey and our first visit to Side Project. Both places are cranking out world-class beers, and we'll be back for sure.

Doppelganger

Evolution of Citra Part Five

Vanilla Bean Truth

The Side Project Cellar

M.J.K. (2024) - The highest rated beer I've ever had (4.82 on Untappd), and it was amazing.

We're in College Station but have really good friends that moved to Connecticut in 2022. We make it up there multiple times a year. They're about an hour from TH Charlton and TH Deerfield. STL was for a conference : )

Visited Tree House Saratoga Springs, NY this past Monday. They opened the tap room back in March. It's similar to the Charlton location, just a bit smaller and without the on-site brewing operation.

I managed to get a pour of MJK '21 while visiting Side Project a few years ago. Amazing beer and I'm not even a big barleywine fan.
