Honestly, I'd come up with a couple places I would like to go and then just call and explain to them what's going on and see if they can accommodate

A 2015 Kapcsandy Roberta's Reserve merlot
Two bottles of 2015 Pleno gran reserva from Spain ... great inexpensive wine
Two bottles of 2019 Cornerstone Oakville Station red blend
And a 2022 Shafer TD9 cab
I was really ready to spend some cash this time around but overall, I was disappointed in the selection offered.
I bought:

We went for the 2000 Leoville Poyferre. I made a NY strip for me and a filet for the wife. We had some roasted garlic mashed potatoes on the side.
The wine was excellent. Definitely drank younger than 25 years. Tannins were very well integrated. A lot of gasoline/pencil shavings when we first opened it, but it smoothed out a lot after a few minutes of air. Black licorice and dark berry flavors. Decent acid in the wine as well. Really enjoyable.
Generally well balanced and plenty of life left but was humming tonight!

Detert east block is the oldest section of vines from the 40s. You want this over the normal bottling.

What a nose! Delicious wine for sure. No surprise, but at the top as far as 2nd wines. Very soft, tart cherry, anise, earth, little cocoa.
This, La Fort Latour, and Altagracia are my fav 2nd wines. I guess technically DV Cab is a 2nd wine too, which would put it in this group of top 2nds.

I've never had their higher end stuff though I'm sure many of you have and it's probably over extracted rubbish, but I may try one of each so that I can know. I think they are in Virginia. You can find them on google. Per the email the only way to get this deal is to call them as it's below the MSRP. Just sharing because it peaked my interest.

I've heard good things but never tried it. I saw it come thru and almost bought but decided to pass and focus on other offerings. I also don't need three of any bottle these days, unless it's champagne or MacDonald.

It sold out shortly after I purchased so someone thinks it's good. I'll probably pop one early and report back.
And I justified it because I passed on the Detert East Block this year. Love the wine but have a bunch of it and rarely open it. Also making a concerted effort to diversify. Tired of going through my wine fridges and seeing the same 10-12 producers.
