I still don't get this book thing. So if Buzz only cared about that how does he beat no 1 Auburn at home or Bama year before. He won at a good clip here. His style just wasn't going take you deep in post season. IDK I just think of all,the things to not like about buzz the book thing to me is the oddest

I'd agree with that. Buzz' style was less effective in the NCAAT against teams that pass well and can hit the open 3 look (ex. Penn State), playing at a higher tempo.

Buzz' teams always gave 100% effort and I enjoyed the runs the Aggies made late in the last 3 seasons.

Buzz did not seem to enjoy Aggieland…sour puss demeanor. Did adequately at A&M but bottom line only won 2 ncaa tourney games in 6 years…which is what matters. I look and listen to coaches like Ford, Morrison, Elko and now Bucky and the seem to enjoy the challenge at A&M. Bucky seems to understand that although football is and always will be King, he seems to view that as a challenge to make the sport more popular, even if it's always gonna be second or third fiddle to football and baseball. Being an Aggie coach is different…there's a culture you have to embrace or you're out of place. Good luck to buzz…I for one, wasn't even a little bit upset he left.
We need to make up our mind people. Do we want a coach that gets A&M? I've been told differently for years. Now that Buzz didn't enjoy it here apparently that's now a problem for him

They don't actually dislike that he reads. People just like to make themselves feel better by attacking low hanging fruit. They think coaches can't have hobbies

If he brought up that he likes cooking meals with the team they'd attack that too

It's not that he likes books. It's that he reads crap about "becoming a better man" instead of being obsessed about coaching basketball.

Dude is not obsessive and single-minded enough for greatness. That is all.

You act like becoming a better man is a bad thing

This idea that he wasn't focused on hoops hilarious. If he was he wouldn't have won as much as he did

It's not that he likes books. It's that he reads crap about "becoming a better man" and then actively shops himself while under contract at Texas A&M and recruits his players to leave with him, thereby showing he doesn't actually practice what he preaches and it not a "good man"

There's focus, and then there is obsession. You won't reach the top of any profession with mere focus.

Billy Gillispie was obsessed. There are obvious risks and downsides to it.

If you don't have unhealthy vices, you aren't obsessed. You only have to take one look at Mike Elko to know he's all the ****ing way in.

Only one coach "seemed to enjoy" coaching bb at A&M...Shelby sort of, because no one gave a sht and he could fish and be himself. All coaches know football drives the bus. That;s never an issue. They tend to love it, until they don't. We'll see.

Buzz's time ran it's course.. (And imo he loved it when he got here; he'd been here before) Next man up could be the lifer many want

At least he's at a basketball school now. Oh wait... that was the last HC that left us for Maryland that said that wasn't it?

Buzz was an enigma. WE are supposed to be the enigma.

There was this negative competitive energy around the whole thing- almost an us vs him thing at the end. Definitely time for him to go.

The ease with which some posters go from attacking anyone who questions a current coach's production to saying they saw the warning signs of the now former coach's production all along is absolutely fascinating.

I would argue BCG enjoyed his stay. Just was ready to take a better opportunity, like many people in their careers..

I also dont miss these terrible screens. It's so ugly to watch them on offense.

That's one of the most frustrating things about his offense. So easy to fix and takes very little practice time.

I don't really think he wanted out . He wanted a commitment that the powers that be weren't willing to give and in retrospect they probably were right . He found it elsewhere . Probably worked out best for both Buzz (financially ) and A& M basketball. Only time will tell.

I disagree, due to the m.o. of Buzz at precious places.

He gets enough success to get a better job, and packs up for a fan base that doesn't hate him yet. Cowardly, but smart, financially.

As you should. I feel like some trash talkers have never watched a game!

"Your team shoots like crap!"

We proceed to shoot horribly.

Loyalty to the university, not the coach.

You don't want to know what the GOAT Bud Foster did during his dominant run as DC at Va Tech. Would put frat houses to shame.

He was a grinder and I loved the effort of his teams, but he wasn't the savant he wanted to be. Two reasons:
1) The books he read were boring self-help management stuff.
2) He let Jack Easterby near his team.
94chem,
That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough
