This is not at all surprising after I saw this postgame meltdown the other day. He might be legit crazy.

lol, I'm sure that's gonna hold up, but they don't really need it to I guess, they'll come up with something they can agree on. I've always assumed most of these settled buyouts just end up changing the length of time the schools pay them out.

That's not only thin, its total BS.

Out of thousands of coaches' post-game press conferences each season, no less than 150 sound EXACTLY like his did.

This not only a breach on K-State's part, but could be a bad faith breach depending on Kansas law. I haven't read the language in the contract, but I'd bet serious money that a coach calling out his own players for BASKETBALL actions (or inactions) is NOWHERE NEAR what the language suggests. AT THE VERY LEAST, it would have to be something about the players that would need to remain private (injuries, academics, personal, etc.) and more likely about other individuals in the university -- fans, admin, etc.

Sort of like the Bobby Knight incident that got him fired at Indiana, without the arm grab.

Kstate handled this very poorly. He's still going to get the money.

Athletics director Gene Taylor confirmed to The Mercury Monday that when he met with Tang Sunday morning, he offered Tang a choice: coach the rest of the season and then resign, or else be terminated immediately for cause. If Tang chose the former, there would be some kind of financial package offered to him in lieu of a buyout, at an undetermined amount that would be substantially less than the full buyout.

https://themercury.com/k_state_sports/k-state-offered-tang-chance-to-keep-coaching-then-resign/article_85131109-dc70-4010-bd19-cbd74ce2ae29.html

This torpedos their contract claim. If he violated the contract, thus creating a "for cause" situation, why would they offer him a chance to finish out the season?

Assuming this write up is accurate, there is nothing here that Tang violated. In fact, its even worse than what I originally thought. If KState attempts to claim immunity from liability, they may never hire another coach again.

Hubert feels like a Matt Doherty situation but there's not a Roy Williams level guy that UNC would be fired up to get.

NC State with the biggest win margin against NC since '62 - 24 points. I don't think Hubert is the HC next year.

Wildest thing floated in that article is Will Wade going back to LSU, that would be crazy town.

Is Will Wade that good? Why is he always in such high demand. I mean he's definitely not BAD...but I dont think I really get it.

I guess I'm not typically thinking in terms of his age. He's younger than I am, and so basically he's at the same stage as Mark Turgeon when we hired him (or, for that matter, Bucky McMillan also) in terms of career? I guess in those terms yeah he's got a very good career going.

I said that last year. I don't really get it either.

On here I think our fans have some kind of weird fascination with coaches with baggage.

Would be a totally wild move. He's the show in town at NC State and they'll give him anything to be successful in a conference that is easy to finish in the top third of if you just put in a little bit of effort and are a decent coach. Meanwhile at LSU you'd probably be third in line for getting donor money and competing with Mulkey also. NCST is objectively just a better basketball job in general too.

I think whether NC State is better than LSU is in the eye of the beholder. I think I'd rather be the coach at LSU.

Also interesting they have Chris Beard on this list as someone who could move, I figured his new contract would be borderline prohibitive for at least a couple of years.

ACC used to be good in basketball almost top to bottom. Not quite as formidable now. LSU still controls its own player sources in Louisiana at least for now.

Wade? He can recruit….it goes weird after that???

I'd be shocked if Beard went anywhere that wasn't clearly a basketball focused, better job.

His main issue this year at OM wasn't $ support or the school. He built a team around AJ Storr and that has worked for exactly no one.

Other notes from the article though, Keatts agent did a good job to get his name listed. Good luck to anyone that actually hires him at a power conference school. I could not see Byington going anywhere at this point and Bennett leaving would be real shocker. Talk about a huge change in the WCC with the Zags leaving and if he left too. Last, I will be fascinated to see where Memphis goes from here. They're lost in the American wilderness and really missed their chance to get themselves in a better, more stable hoops league long term.

Well yeah that's why I think having him on this list is weird. He's in the first year of a new contract, it seems the list of schools who might want to hire Chris Beard and the list of schools who could afford to hire Chris Beard likely don't overlap.

At least Porter Moser gave OU a Texas win on his way out. Unless he can find a sister in Norman to provide him another miracle run, his days are numbered
