Could Scott Drew be a possible mutual parting of ways situation? They haven't been to the second weekend since they won the title in '21. Probably a little harsh, but they seem to have been a little stagnant as a program.

Don't imagine it would be mutual for at least five more years. He is going to have a statue in Waco and unless he decides to walk, I don't see that relationship ending anytime soon. He already turned down Kentucky and Louisville to stay.

If Drew went to LSU and started winning there, Mulkey would lose her mind.

The Davis situation feels a little bit like the Hardaway situation. They REALLY want it to work.

Definitely true. Hubert is a quality person and fits UNC's "family approach." Early in the season, there was a sense they might have to go "outside" with a new hire. Would not have been in the Tar Heel tradition (for better or worse).

Is there some tie for Byington to Cuse? Historically Cuse is obviously better than Vandy, but in the future I don't think that is likely to be true.

I'm really curious who will actually want that job and who they'll hire. I bet they're wishing McNamera had a few more years of experience at this point or Autry could have at least hung on until he did. Getting Siena off the mat and into the tourney in year two is impressive, but he also only has two years of HC experience. Autry had none and was a Cuse guy, so I doubt they'd want to repeat that again so soon.

Like everything else these days, it all depends on how well $upported they are.

Already seen that Gerry McNamara is under consideration. On one hand, he did at least coach Siena to the NCAA Tournament this season. They finished third in their league and won the conference tournament and were sub .500 last year so not exactly a long track record of success. But as crony-istic hires go not that bad!

McNamera might be too experienced. What's Buddy Boeheim up to?

I read that apparently someone in the GT AD is who hired him originally at Troy, so would make a lot of sense.

Imagine if like Joseph Jones got hired here, and coached us for 12 years, not only leading the best 12 year period in school history, but also the best 5 individual seasons in our school history, and then we decided that wasnt good enough and fired him. Then he got a job at like Miss State, and won 20 games 5 times in a row, and now is a candidate to be hired at like Virginia or Louisville. Thats what its like to be UT Arlington and fire Scott Cross, IMO.

Yep and then Ogden bolted back to Austin after Beard was hired.

I mean, it'd have to be some dumb**** reason to get someone to fire Scott Cross in order to hire Chris Ogden no matter what it was. If that AD was here, I hope he got out before we got to him with real, actual pitchforks.

I guess the main area where the hypothetical breaks down, is that Jones played for us at a peak, whereas Cross was just on the typical terrible Texas-Arlington teams. Probably wouldn't have been able to fire Cross if like he had been on 3 winning teams or something like that. Still weird that it was allowed for someone to come in and can a guy who was an alum and was winning, something the school had never done before.

Even if it was like, Chris Clayton or somebody that nobody even knows now, no way we let one of our own get treated like that.

Yeah whole thing was extremely dumb.
