Not true. There are 2 11 seeds that don't play in Dayton

I wonder if its related to the reason Alabama is higher seeded than Vanderbilt…

Both 11 seeds were automatic qualifiers. It is true that we were the last team to get a bye. A bit surprising but glad it worked out the way it did.

Hate to be paired with UH.
Why? Usually an entertaining game when we play them. I want a shot to knock them out too!

They play elite defense and rebound. Those are 2 of our biggest bugaboos.

Fair - I still like them over other 2 seeds. Added bonus: Office trash talk in Houston will be fun (if we can win our first game).

CBS showed us as 40 overall and tu/NC State 41/42. I think the other 11s were auto qualifiers so exempt from Dayton.

Love the UH possibility. Purdue and Iowa St likely would have carved us up. Houston at least has the potential to go ice cold for multiple stretches during the game.

That said, I'm already happy. Nothing will change that for this year. We could get fleeced by Saint Mary's and I wouldn't be upset. Obviously want to win as many as we can though

The Ags are in.

I can't believe what Bucky and the players have accomplished in year 1!

Would be interested in the justification for Mizzou over us in the seed list, not that it matters.

Nothing better than the week leading up to round one when your team is in the bracket!

So not only is Texas-NC State a rematch, but they also each are the highest two seeded of the first four teams? WTF

Missouri, UCF, and A&M were close together but UCF and Missouri both beat A&M. The committee slotted us where they did because the head-to-heads mattered. Thankfully the rest of the bubble worked out where it didn't matter at all.

Bracket Matrix consensus was Missouri as a 10.

The bracket rules are a bit weird. They had them all slotted as 11 seeds so they probably fit them into the brackets based on geography and other factors. They have a formula to make sure each region is competitively balanced. So the region that NC State / Texas feeds into was probably slightly weaker based on their metrics so they put the slightly better teams there for balance.

We beat Georgia, finished with one more conference win, and head to head didnt matter.

Yeah, Mizzou is 52 on KP. TAMU is 39.

I guess its because the other game goes to a pod with Tennessee and Virginia, and NC state (unlike fellow ACC team SMU )played Virginia three times, so that explains it. I dont think they take seeds below 8 into account for evaluating region balance

Georgia was ranked significantly above us due to the other metrics. The head-to-head never came into play because the committee never needed to directly compare us to them.

With Missouri and UCF we were all slotted right next to each other and head-to-head was a differentiator. At the end of the day it really didn't matter because I don't think it affected our game location or region.

Agreed that H2H was the differentiator used but they clearly weren't consistent with its use given Purdue over Michigan State and Illinois for the last 2.

Thankfully though, none of it matters. The draw is about as good as we could have asked for. Let's lace em up…

Purdue was the preseason ranked no. 1 and they got to the Big Ten championship game. I think the run to the tourney championship got them the 2. Their metrics dramatically increased as well during that run. Guess we now know that conference tourney results do matter (for the teams already in).

They are definitely not soft. But they don't have athletic size on the perimeter, and that should mean we get a lot better looks than we've gotten the last half of the SEC slate.
