Lighten up Frances. I hope that is all they win. You have to give them credit for showing up and drinking. We went last year & didn't buy a single Jell-O shot. Ag's finished second in the shots and unfortunately second at the CWS. Jell-O doesn't go with what I usually like to drink.

Who cares? This is like bragging about how many beers you drank at a party to make yourself feel like you are tougher than everyone else, but you are the only person that is keeping track or that cares. Rocco is a genius for starting this as he is the one that is winning.

Are you aware of how expensive the overhead is when a business carries a mixed beverage license (i.e. license, insurance, taxes, etc.)?? There's a reason alcoholic drinks are marked up as much as they are, and it's not because they're making massive profits. $3 per shot is quite reasonable.

Huh?? The primary topic of conversation on this thread is how this contest is encouraging binge drinking (debatable, but beside the point). Less than a typical drink? Sure. But they're certainly not lacking alcohol.

My point is the vast majority of alcohol revenue isn't to pay for the cost of ingredients, but to pay for the massive overhead of not only carrying a liquor license, but for running a bar.

Rocco's is making out like a bandit. These things are cheap shots with crap vodka made in bulk at some facility in like Tennessee. And like I said, they don't even have to serve all of them because folks just pay to run up the count.

That doesn't make it a scam. You know exactly what you're paying for or quickly figure it out after one or two

All I know is the energy at Rocco's during the CWS last year was fun. Who cares if the shot is $5, and who cares if Rocco's is making $3 off of each shot. Go into any bar and tell me the liquor/beer/wine is not marked up.

Rocco's is about the experience. If you don't want to participate, fine, but last year the race for #1 was an absolute blast. I'd do it all again.
