One of the replies was from a transfer from this year agreeing with the tweet. I thought it would be something people here would laugh over. Or at least agree Schloss is an ass.

Someone posted this tweet in premium. It's worth a laugh and scorn. Schloss' reputation lives on.

I think everyone is well aware that Schloss players don't like him. In the end he wins no matter where he is and his players generally are successful. Example Jace LaViolet performed way better Schloss than Earley. Schloss almost made Jace a Top 5 pick and alot of money while Earley almost dropped Jace out of the first round. Jace loved Earley alot more. Regardless kids see success, want success, and Schloss gets it. When the record books are written very few will talk about if his players liked him or not.

Before any Aggie starts to virtue signal about Aggie nobility and how were better than Schloss. I will remind you we are still living under the infamy of the Eric Dickerson TransAM. If that happened what else happened.

Lots happened. Lots.

It's the state of college athletics, unfortunately.

I think that leaves out a lot of context. If anything I think Earley has more to do with Jace's individual success in his first two years over Schloss. It has been stated multiple times that Schloss was more of a big picture and gameday coach and let Earley/Pitching coaches work on the mechanics and craft of individual players.

Earley is not as good of a game manager as Schloss and I'm sure that played into it, but I'd be willing to bet Earley taking a step back in the offense has just as much or more to do with the regression.

I lived through those crazy days. Knew many players at many SWC schools. They were all getting paid. Even at Baylor. The Eric Dickerson thing was not that big a deal in what else was going on. I know where the skeletons are buried.
To me, that is totally different than the amoral, narcissistic, destructive behavior of our former baseball coach.

Yea, but there are examples where players did worse under Schloss than before him. There are several that did worse the longer they were in his program. You don't have to look hard to find that. Nobody knows for sure if the change of coach caused Jace to drop as you put it. But to put it on a new head coach, who just happened to be his hitting coach his two prior years, is a bit of a stretch.

Wins what?

I thought the only thing many cared about was a national championship.

He hasn't won one of those.

The rules seem to change a lot as to what makes a good coach.

Yes

But this thread is about Schloss being an Ass to his players. You don't have to go on a long tirade about him winning. There are coaches that win and are not A-holes to their players.

You are correct sir! If you know anything about addiction you recognized that the comments made by Schloss at the infamous post CWS interview were made from a sick mind. To profess publicly that he left his family for the A&M job, when most know that his family left him due to his philandering, was beyond disgusting. And very revealing about his true character - or lack thereof. To me that moment was the most revealing of all.

Our desire to only see good in winners and only see bad in folks that betray us is equally awkward.

a coach can be a dick and still be a good person. there is nothing wrong with pushing a player.

some coaches are just a dick and it's all about them. schloss falls into that category. he pushes his players but it's to feed his own ego.

Is it? Or do we just want it to be so it makes everything easier to cope with? I think he's a grade A ******* from a fan perspective but I'm quite tired of all talk about Schloss. He is what he is and he was what he was. He's got a lot of former players who both love and hate him, he got us to the brink, and our current situation gives me not very much hope. Maybe Earley can change that next year.

well this looks like a post from someone that really doesnt know all the little things about baseball... there is a whole heck of a lot that went into Jace and his plate performance in those comparative years. Most of this past season he didnt have to be pitched to, so lot of forced swings ect. He wasnt protected in the lineup like previous year... any good player needs protection in front and behind to get the pitches. You pitch a player different. Injuries had a lot to do with that and the bats around him, it does make a difference.
