I was going to wait to start the new season thread until the roster or Fall schedule was posted but I just saw a 'get to know' press release on OF Freshman Piper White and want to post these on the 2026 thread as they come out.

Hopefully the Fall schedule and roster will come out soon, perhaps this coming week. First Fall game last year was on Oct 2 so we are getting close! Although I know who is on the roster it's nice to be able to read the bio for each player at one site.

I discussed the IF positions recently but I also thought about the OF positions all summer. Very good chance we will see Kelsey and Frankie (CF and RF?) but what about the third position? Perhaps Hailey? She was her HS's Offensive MVP two or three years and I have long wondered how she does in practice. But she had only 4 AB's last year, with 2 hits and 2 RBI's.

Freshman Annsley has outstanding BA and OBP numbers and a ton of SB's. Was a track star (sprinter) in HS, too. I wonder how she is doing in practice? Might we see another Freshman starter?

Hailey and Scout have been the go to PR's the last two seasons but if Annsley does not start in OF she might see a lot of PR chances.

What's in a name ...

Last year we had Emily and Emiley, Sidne and Sidney.

This year we have Taylor and Taylor, Sidne and Sidney, Mya and Maya.

Next year, IF class of 2026 recruit Taylor signs we will again have two Taylors so next year will be like this year (depends on transfers in or out, of course).

Tough to have LSU and the sips so early in the season but at least the sooners are the last series.

But good not to have both the sips and sooners as away games in the same year and nice to not have Florida, Tenn, Bama and Arkie.

On the other hand, most of the teams in the SEC are tough so every season is tough regardless of what teams we play each year.

Decided to look for some pitching videos of Zoie Griffin. Came across the semifinal and final of the 2021 Little League Softball World Series.

Amanda Scarborough analyst at the game !!

Rachel Fox (tu, A&M) Zoie's pitching coach.

Struck out the side in the 2nd, 5 SO's at that time. Throwing a lot of strikes.

Highest velocity I saw was 69 but usually quite a bit under that. Pretty darn good for a 13 yo.

Did not walk a batter until the top of the 4th.

Complete game (6 innings). 1 H, 9 SO, 2 BB.

Oklahoma vs Virginia LLSWS Championships 2021



Started and pitched 4 innings (their lead was about 8-1 when the new pitcher came in), did really well and got the win. Second pitcher really good, too. Some darn good players on the team, easy to see how they won the championship.
