agreed. But to play devil's advocate. This is one of the most experienced teams in college volleyball, we shouldn't be learning lessons against younger teams and giving away matches. We just lost to a team who was assembled together in the offseason and another who's best player ended her season 2 matches ago and who's stars are ubderclassmen

Last two games TCU took it to us. We got no momentum from winning the third game. Had to play from behind the last two sets.

I think Underwood deserves to have some competition with Applegate for the libero jersey. Underwood, although better this match, just made so many dumb and late reads.

Underwood seems slower than she did at the end of last year… her touch is still solid and her out of system setting is as good as you can get from a setter, but she just seems slower

A tough past 48 hours for the girls. Have to go back home regroup and get some rest. 7 straight road games is tough but the best of the best make it work. Got the tournament at home next weekend against teams we should have no problem with and then the SEC starts. Hopefully we can use those games next week to work on our serving and passing which struggled these past 2 games. It's still somewhat early in the season but we ideally want to get these issues fixed before SEC play. I trust Coach Morrison and co can get this figured out

Two true road losses to top 15 teams as well as some other good wins. That's not how this works

It's multiple things. Slow and slow reading. She doesn't look confident out there and is constantly in the wrong spot to make a play. Also seems to not be talking/leading very well. She was that person last year

that's what we get for trying to brag about beating 2 mid major football teams, winning a cross country meet that had 2 division 1 schools, and a soccer program that's one of the worst in power 4 that beat 3 mid majors and tied 2 more… now every fan base can continue laughing at that post

It's a lot more fun to learn from wins than losses… escpecially with how old our team is

Absolutely agree. In my opinion, if you get a 3 ball pass, you give it to your potential All SEC/American middles. Perkins got some really ****ty sets today. The offense just isn't flowing well

She trapped them all fairly consistently. Set location was fairly inconsistent too. We seemed to lack good communication.

7 road matches in a row to start a season… hopefully we gain a lot from this

Why does Logan play all 6 positions if we never back set her?

That was tough to watch. Team defense and serving and IQ were really bad. What a let down.

If you want to build excitement around your team/program you can't lay two back to back eggs.

The first game I watched was this weekend. We were sloppy so I am am not surprised by these results. With that said, we will be a pretty good team if we can clean up the errors.

Do we need to still fix things ?? Absolutely
Do we need to mitigate the errors that are controllable ? Sure
But up until now we have played teams who will be in or may get into the NCAA tourney on the road (except for Central Arkansas )

We have three matches at home that should not be an issue in terms of losses but can be used to toy with some possible changes and limit the swings to players we will need to have contribute in the SEC season and beyond

Far from a finished product. Playing these very good teams on road earlier will not only prepare them for conference/tourney but also boost rpi

4 of Texas' first 5 were away from home (including at Rice like A&M's matches at Rice/Central Arkansas at Tudor).

Nothing desperate mid-major about it.

For the 4 A&M matches in Houston, Fort Worth, and Dallas I bet A&M had more fans there than the opponent. It certainly looked like it against ranked foes TCU and SMU.

The ACC/SEC challenge dictated the SMU match location. As far as Rice and Central Arkansas in Houston that seems more like a gift to local former students rather than desperate mid major tactics.

Phase 2 of the Aggies volleyball season is about to begin: Important SEC play.

Just watched it, damn that was rough. How do we let an undersized hitter go off on us with the middles we have ? I wasn't expecting this loss specially how highly ranked and very experienced team. Serving is baddddd if we were serving tough I'd take the the errors but we aren't. Stanford is a team that has high number of service errors but get the teams out of system we just flat out miss them.

Was being facetious...but these losses arent healthy losses. We will see where SMU and TCU end the year but truly both of those matches should have been 3 set sweeps if we're being honest but for the lack of basic skill...serving passing setting. Honestly we have got to get a new setter and rotate more athletic players at the libero.

They are healthy if we learn from them.

You learn from mistakes not sucesses more often then not

This is a top 10 team on paper, now that maybe because of how we played against Arizona State and Wisconsin to end the year and everyone thinks that is us. That was the best we played that year honestly. We can do that this year for an entire season but we have to fix things that need fixing.
Serving passing and defense arent where we need them to be at this time. But not everyone is where they need to be.

If we lose 5-6 regular season matches this season that is a top ten team based on entire body of work


Serve pass we arent winning. I dont care as much about aces vs errors as many people do. I care how much pressure we put on the opponents on serve in terms of are they out of system which should correlate to points

We have not been close to a top 10 team in that regard. is Manning going to get to play this season? If so can we get her serve into the match. Can we pass more effectively? I would love to see the passing stats for the last two matches and compare. Someone on volleytalk has the ability to see the passing stats. Would love to see the totals for these past two games against very good opponents. TCU beat the defending champs in 5 when their setter was still on the team.

The sky isnt falling people but we do need to make adjustments before conference play
