Key notes from G Guerrieri interview

  • We have a big game on Friday. It’s the start of SEC play. We had our only loss of the season on Sunday night in Fort Worth. They never backed down. They didn't flinch. We have 10 new starters. Sydney Fuller was awesome. We know we have a great defense and great people. If they fight, we are in every single game, no matter who we are playing against.

  • You start having experience together. It's "Hey, look, when we did this and overcame it.” They have gone on the road. It's nice that we have the best agriculture school in the world. It's a good reminder when we are back home to make the most out of it.

  • Nothing to take away from the TCU team ranked No. 4, but we didn't deserve to lose. Most people will tell you you learn more, often, from a loss. If one of those mistakes costs you, you won't do it again. You will see that this week. We had two-game weeks to now a single-game weekend. As much as my players run and fight, you need time to recover. They have from Sunday to Friday now.

  • Against SFA, we kept missing the target. We missed open goals. The goalkeeper was out, and we hit it over the top. It's not like we don’t work on that every day. That's technical. The way our sport is, it's about your balance. It's an experience. That's what you see from our players. We are steadily getting ourselves into those positions. The shots on goal were better on Sunday night.

  • The equalizer from Leah Diaz was big time. It came from our defense. We talk about our superpower for our players is the ability to pressurize the ball off the other team. You talk about a full-court press with basketball, it's very similar to the way we want to play.

  • No. 15 Georgia is real good. They beat North Carolina already. They lost to a really good UCLA team by one goal. They had a rough week, a draw with Clemson and lost a home game to Wyoming.

  • Wyoming is a good program. Keidane McAlpine has done a great job. He came from USC. They are loaded with talent. They are absolutely dangerous. They eliminated us last year in Pensacola in a back-and-forth match.

  • It’s Fish Camp Night on Friday. We are reaching out to the student body. If you went to Fish Camp, just where your shirt and you will get in for free. We need that energy.
