Bronze medal for Sofia Iakushina in the women's heptathlon
I had the sound kind of low, but were they saying she could have competed in the Long Jump and qualified? Similar to Lamara with the High Jump a few years ago?taylorswift13_ said:
Well below her best, she struggled in day 1 with an uncharacteristic high jump. Nearly a half foot under her best. That threw her off and she didn't have a great shot put event and wasn't her best in the 200. She came back stronger in day 2 to secure the bronze. She's only a freshman and moved over here in January. Next year, records will fall
Did I have the wrong athlete? For some reason, I thought Distin did the hep and the HJ, but maybe I'm thinking of Tyra.taylorswift13_ said:
Yeah she had one of the top long jump marks in the region and could have qualified if she elected to compete in it two weeks ago. The long jump was on Thursday so she could have done both.
A few years ago they had long jump day 2 of the women's meet and Tyra Gittens competed in 6 events, then the long jump, then ran the 800. Medaling in both!

Wonder if Georgia is going to go for a huge race in the 4x400. They don't need it, but it'll be interesting to see what they do! Would be cool to let some younger girls run, gain some experience and confidence for the future. But the girls who got them the championship deserve to run it out!
I think that's just her top bunched up and tucked in there.94chem said:
