Bummer. Injuries are so hard to overcome in tennis.

I still think we win NCAA titles in 22 and 23 if Tati and Carson don't have their injuries.

Tough playing conditions in Malibu; sunny and 78 degrees.

Lexington and Daria win; Mia and Lucianna do not. Violeta and Anna lead 6-5.

Lost the doubles point.

Pepperdine won the first set at No. 1, No.5 and No. 6 singles.

And Lexington won her first set but has dropped 9 of the 11 games since that time. So we need a comeback there and to win one of the matches where we lost the first set.

Lucciana wins 7-6, 6-1.

Mia and Daria are trying to make a comeback.

Lexington loses the last two sets 1-6 2-6 after winning the first set.

That takes Pepperdine's lead to 2-1.

Mia and Daria force a third set.

Correction: Mia in second set tiebreaker. I lost the video.

Looks like Anna lost at No. 6.

Anna goes down in straight sets at 6.

Pepperdine leads 3-1.

Need Mia to win the 2nd set tiebreaker or Pepperdine clinches the win.

Mia wins her tiebreaker.

Need to win all remaining matches to win.

Mia at 1
Violeta at 4
Daria at 5.

Violeta is in a 2nd set tiebreaker that could close her win out and get us closer.

Violeta lost her tiebreaker in the 2nd set.

Pepperdine still up 3-1. Need to win all three:
Mia down 3-4
Violeta down 1-5
Daria up 4-3

I believe Violeta lost 1-6 and the other 2 matches will not be completed.

We got smashed pretty good in the deciding set in two singles matches where we won the first set.

From what I've seen from Violeta, she comes out strong but her opponents figure her out very easily. She has a ton of 3rd setters

That doubles point is so important when we aren't at full strength. Lots of positives to take from the loss though. Lulu played fantastic and currently has the highest UTR on the team (higher than Nicole even). Good win for Daria and Lexington at line 3 doubles. Tough first set for Daria but she refocused and was leading 5-3 in the 3rd. Violeta was up 5-3 in the second set tiebreaker and just could not convert. What can you say about Mia? Absolute legend that refuses to go down without a fight. Down 3-0 and 4-1 in the 3rd, she battles back to 4-4 deuce before it's called. Anna / couldn't get over the hump but she's raw and is young and her trajectory is in the stratosphere.

This team will be legit if and when we get Ilinca on campus. Moving everyone down a line will make us that much stronger. The only question is, where does she fit in. I could see throwing her in anywhere from lines 1, 2, or 3.

That's my thought too. She has some big wins over top 200 WTA players. What's her UTR? I can see her ending up at #1

She's right around an 11 flat

I'll be surprised if she starts above Mia or Lulu. My guess is #3 to start but could move up based on results.

School wouldn't admit her due to TOEFL issues

Also, Ionescu was basically committed to us when she miraculously signed with tu. That one was worse.

Just an observation that applies to all schools and sports. We have to play in that same arena.

I hope our players stick around for years as opposed to coming in late in a Spring semester, playing this semester, and that's it.

Exactly. We were just waiting for her arrival. The recruiting was over.

The last two coaches that left here for other SEC schools have had questionable recruiting tactics, but not sure if they have actually been caught.
