They used to let us get away with it in the past "if you promise to go straight home." That or calling a less drunk friend to get you. With the damn lawyers now you can't do that anymore. Well lawyers and actually being smart about not letting a drunk ass drive.

Gone are the days of open containers. Hell my uncle paid a visit in the 70s and came from Vegas. (Yeah he was always a wanna be gangster.) He would drive with a cooler of Budweiser in the front seat between him and his wife. (Forget what # wife she was.)

I am Class of '91. My senior year of high school (1987) two car-loads of us were pulled over by DPS between Stamford and Anson. We had two cases of beer and every one of us had a beer we were drinking. He made us pour them all out and sent us on our way without any citations issued.
