Yeah I knew that. Didn't you get something from that show signed by REM for her birthday?

Tanya had a setlist from the show that she lost before I ever met her. I wrote to Mike Mills (her favorite member), and he sent her an autographed setlist from a then recent show in Nashville. This was around 2006 or so.

Night Ranger with Cheap Trick opening Oct 1985

Toto with John Parr (1 hit wonder) sometime in '86 or '87

Huey Lewis & the News - Fall '86 (I think)

I was at the Night Ranger and Cheap Trick and at Huey Lewis & the News.

Of the two, I think I preferred Huey Lewis, but both were great.

Huey Lewis had Tower of Power backing them with horns. Incredible!

I was at that Toto/Parr show. To be fair, John Parr was a two hit wonder - "Naughty Naughty" and "St. Elmo's Fire".

In 1970 I was in high school and came up one weekend to see my brother who was a zip in the corps. I got to see Three Dog Night.

1974 I saw the Eagles. Also saw Roy Clark and Olivia Newton John around that time.

Does A&M still bring in top rated groups like that anymore?

I had to run a check on the "Elton John in 72" claim, as that was during the Honky Chteau tour…a huge album, went to #1. Damn, couldn't wrap my head around the fact that Rocket Man was performed at G Rollie. But it was. At comparatively (to today) little 'ol Texas A&M.

But I don't see any evidence that The Eagles ever played there. The James Gang did though. That would have been amazing!

Thanks for the reminder of his 2nd hit! Do you remember the tambourine player walking on his hands at the end of Parr's set? He was about 5' tall and it looked like a sideshow. After Parr was done, Toto was spectacular!

Cheap Trick and Triumph in '83. 3rd row seats. Caught a Rick Nielsen guitar pick. I'd prove it, but gave it to the kid a few years back. I'll see if they can send a pic.

I have a few of those as well. Rick threw them to me and my friend as we waited outside the backstage door of the Houston Music Hall in 1980. Great moment. We were just kids.

I have no memory of that guy, it was many concerts ago.

I do remember Toto putting on a good show though.

Bruce Springsteen was to play there, I think after Darkness on the Edge of Town came out. Early 80's? But his advance team measured and the stage was too small for all of his equipment.

Tanya worked events at the MSC throughout college (as well as working at the Appletree bakery). She worked the rem show, which is really cool, because that was her favorite band.

She also mentioned she was at the Indigo girls concert which I attended.

I think she said she yelled out something there...
