I know the Association will pay for half, so that's not the question.

What do they do with the gold when they make your rings smaller?

I've put this off for years.

What do they do with the gold they cut out?

Can I take it to a dentist and have them set me up with a gold tooth?

They keep it. I'm sure it gets reused for some other schmuck's ring.

I assume most jewelers do not have to remove material. They use one of theses:

I don't see that working any other way than making it bigger.

I assume it's like a wallered out coochie. You are going to have to do some serious cutting to make that hole smaller.

Since he mentioned taking the gold out I assumed he was trying to increase its diameter.
Jewelers use the tool to expand the inner diameter without removing any material.

What am I missing here?

If you resize down more than a few sizes (can't remember exactly how many) the only option was to get a whole new ring.

No idea. I know next to nothing about jewelry. I assumed they would cut out a section and then solder it together.

I have mentioned before I'm probably ******ed.

I apologize for my tendency to interpret words literally.

For clarification, is the inner diameter of the ring too small for your finger or too large?

Too large. I use a band aid or those plastic things.

I maybe repeating an answer already provided, but jewelers have the ability to add material to the ring and typically have the material on hand.

I would take it to a couple of jewelers for recommendations and cost estimates.

Sorry for not answering helpfully in previous posts.

Contact Balfour. Your ring is under warranty and the first resize is free (unless you're increasing the size by more than 2 sizes), and you cover the cost of shipping.

You might need to visit a jewelry store to have your finger sized, but using a different company besides Balfour to do any of the work will void your ring's warranty.
