A tale of two concerts this weekend. From one end of the spectrum tonight to the other tomorrow.

James Taylor then Post Malone? We're hitting the latter tomorrow night.

Last night. First concert ever for my sons.

Question- when did Metallica start doing posters? I don't remember them in the 2000s or before.

Snagged a setlist and 3 picks from the show last night!

What was the vid at the end? We jetted after sandman to get back to hotel as we had to leave for DFW early this morning.

I was there. Tried to get a setlist but didn't. That's so awesome! Trying to figure out what "Ricky" and the handwritten stuff means though.

Amazing show! That relentless bass grabs you, the drums pound you and those guitars come screaming over the top.

Took my 13 year old son. His one wish was that they play "One" so he was super excited.

They put on a great show and sounded amazing! Bucket list show checked off. Only other time I had seen them was Summer Sanitarium in D/FW where James got sick and all the opening bands sang the vocals for Metallica, so I don't count that.

For the most part I liked the stage set up, but the 8 pillars with screens wasn't the best. The screens were so small and so curved they didn't provide the best views. I think one big circular or rectangular screen would have provided better views of the band and some better visuals.

Other than the $50 price tag on parking it was surprisingly easy getting in and out. We got there a couple songs into Pantera and left a bit after the show ended while they were still on stage throwing picks and talking to the crowd.

That was our third time seeing Metallica and I though it was the best of all of them. Don't get me wrong, they all have been awesome, but there was just a special energy in the stadium that night. My 13 year old noticed it too - said "something was different about that one". Just an incredible show and special night.

My son's favorite drummer is the drummer for Suicidal Tendencies so we were in our seats when they started at 6:00 sharp, just like everyone said they would. They put on a fun set and man, my son wasn't wrong - Jay Weinberg was incredible. Had no clue he was the former drummer from Slipnot.

Pantera was great as always and Metallica is Metallica. Really fun time. When the pyro hit during the Fuel intro the place went nuts!

And I read that it was an NRG concert attendance record - over 75,000!

Picked up tix today for the Summer of Loud show at the Woodlands coming up at my son's request - I don't know who a lot of these guys are, but the stuff I have heard from iPrevail (went to their concert there a couple years ago) and Parkway Drive is pretty good. Metallica is more my speed, but listening to this Metalcore stuff with my son has been fun. Beartooth has some good stuff from what I have listened too.

James seemed to be really enjoying himself.

I've seen that a few times but haven't seen the actual attendance number. Also not sure what they are going off of since George Strait has had 80k in there twice. It was definitely jammed up in there for Metallica. Don't think there was an empty seat in the building.

Posting over here bc some of you don't go to the Houston board.

Great show Saturday night! Not as good as Arlington in 2023, but anytime I can be on the floor for Metallica I'm in heaven. Except my feet. They did the best they could for squeezing in the good stuff into a single night. Wish they had played Battery, Fade to Black, and Sanitarium, but oh well. Really enjoyed Pantera's set. My son and his band (The Creeps) got a selfie with Zakk Wylde! My favorite part of the night was watching Rob watch his son on stage. As the father of a kid in a band I could totally relate first-hand of how proud he is.

We were pretty much on the rail for most of the show. Enjoy the pics!

The only negative from this show was the crowd management. It was extremely difficult to leave the floor to get a drink or take a bathroom break and get back to the floor. They had reentry access blocked for most of the sets. You had to walk all the way around the stadium, and to leave after the show the floor had to walk up to the ramps. Some simple stairs over the band roadie trail would have solved that issue.

NRG definitely wasn't build with floor attendance in mind. My wife and I were on the floor for Garth, and the concessions were a fiasco and you had to walk through a tunnel and go all the way outside to some port-a-potties to use the restroom.

Is this your sons band? https://www.youtube.com/@thecreepstx

I was 10 feet from them. Just cropped and adjusted. Lighting was tough, and they move around a lot. Best shots I could get with a phone.

I entered from the SW side of the stadium and noticed the bathrooms and temporary drink stands they had setup under the ramp for the floor people. I don't think I had ever noticed that before.

Does anyone know if my wife can sign in with my ticketmaster account, and I use 1 of 4 to get myself in, then she uses the other 3 (her and kids) a few hours later?

Does she not have her own TM account? If so just add one to your wallet and transfer the other three to hers.

Yes, the only real risk you run is that it forces a password reset due to logging in from two different locations in a short period of time (though it's not a guarantee that it will force it).

If she doesn't have a Ticketmaster account, have her set one up and transfer the tickets she needs over to her.

She doesn't have a TM account. I guess creating one seems easy enough. Then I can transfer specific tickets.

After a quick discussion, it Sounds like she'd rather just go with me early and wait it out, as opposed to going separately but she'd have to deal with driving into town and parking lol.

Got to see my favorite band of all time, moe., at the Pour House in Charleston last week. It was called "the time moe.chine" and they played two nights of all material they released from the 90's only. What an incredible experience that was. Hadn't been to Charleston before and that place is amazing as is the Pour House.

Now onto Austin today for Phish tonight and tomorrow at Moody for their first Texas shows in seven years. Cannot wait.
