Yeah I usually arrive a few hours early for Woodlands shows, go to the Goose's Acre on the riverwalk and have cheaper drinks than inside and excellent food. There is always plenty of free parking and pretty close at those times.

Riva Row isn't closed off until 6 or so usually so I've parked there before. Otherwise I get one of the free spots. The garage is a royal pain to exit after the shows you are better off in a lot. The goose's acre is just south of the gold garage.
Thanks for the tip! I'm taking my son to Woodlands for a show tomorrow. Gates open at 2:00 with the first opener coming on at 3:00 and he wants to be in the seats for that. Was thinking of getting lunch on the riverwalk before hand. Can we park down there for free and leave the car until the festival ends that night? I'm guessing it will be done around 10:30 pm. Or should we just park in one of the free lots and walk to lunch?

And now tomorrow snake pit!

Badass!!! Do they just offer this to you randomly without an application for it due to being a legacy?

no I have to enter the contest. Legacy gives me no obvious advantage to snake pit (not a separate contest for legacy) but maybe it's helped.

40th anny, s&m shows and awmh were separate contests for legacy vs normal, so def advantage there.

NRG parking question...if you try to buy a pass online and it says sold out, does that mean completely sold out or just the allotment of online passes? For Metallica, we just drove there and paid when we arrived, and the lot was almost empty when we got there. And that concert set an NRG concert attendance record!
But I just checked online for this weekend and it says they are sold out of all lots.

Pretty sure that is just the VIP passes which is what they sell on the website. Guessing you are going to Beyonc. Good luck.

This year we went to Sessanta 2.0 (A Perfect Circle, Puscifer and Primus) in San Antonio.

We will also be at Chevelle in San Antonio and then Live/Collective Soul/Our Lady Peace in Austin.

June was busy at the Moody Amphitheater

Black Keys
The Heavy Heavy
BNNY
Briston Maroney
Peach Pit
Blue October

Blue October ended with the lead singer's entire family on stage for "I Hope You're Happy", which was a great ending to our June at Moody Amphitheater.

Nope. I was busy with training and fathering and missed them (and Dio).

I've never enjoyed any of the multiple times I've had to wait through a Robert Earl Keen concert.... until last night at White Oak Music Hall in Houston. I think I've finally matured enough to appreciate his singer/songwriter style of music and concert. Also, he sounded great, the band was great, and the crowd was a good, heavily Aggie crowd.

Got a few decent pics from night 1. Not crazy about the snake pit just like last time.. but just kinda forgot about my thoughts from 2 years ago, and winning is always exciting so kinda makes you forget as well.

Night 2 I sat in my actual seats.. row 2. Sounds amazing, but honestly, I think about row 8-10 would be ideal.. I had the platform people in front of me blocking a lot of my view, and kinda tough to see the whole stage.
About 8 rows up and it would be a fantastic view!

Oh well, had an amazing time, my kids were troopers and made it to both even though our weekend also entailed 4 baseball games, a bday party, and 2 end of season baseball parties.. so it was non stop from about 2pm friday when we headed to the stadium, home at 12:30am, up at 5:45 saturday, only came home for about an hour for the entire day around 2pm and cris-crossed around town to the 3 parties, home at 10pm, up again 5:45 sunday, and kids only home about 30 minutes before heading to stadium again, finally home at 12:30am.

I left for work at 9:30 this morning and I hadn't heard a peep in the house yet!

My view for a chunk of night 2.. damn platform people! Just a few rows higher and I could have seen over them.

The platformers weren't always in the way, since of course the band moved around! man Lars gotta be feeling like he has jumped in that fire.

This would make any metalhead parent proud; kids in the front row! (mine on left and right with headphones)

A very blurry pic of my kids getting a beach ball right to the head! That thing just about knocked them over.

On night one, the signer of INK kicked that severed head on the stage and it went about 20' and nailed my youngest kid in the head lol. He was fine, singer came over and asked if he was ok and grabbed the head from us, gave him a little run on the head lol
I threw my oldest on my shoulders at the end of metallica when they walk around and hand out picks, Kirk dumped a handful of them right in my kids hand! We got about 20 between both shows.
