Finished the 1st episode. Great writing and I like how they have him contemplate his terrible life while looking at that money roll.

That ex-wife is a piece of work.

One of the most underwhelming penultimate episodes I've seen in a while, where I don't think I bought a single choice any character made, save for the daughter finally leaving her boyfriend. No one else's actions made any damn sense. Nick and Coop hanging out? Barney then randomly joining and all of them going out - and going out big - literally the night after Coop was arrested for a high-profile MURDER? Just so baffling. Combined with Mel and Sam getting into a literal fist fight in public, it all just felt so blatantly manufactured, yet also like a bunch of filler, seeing as nothing of consequence really happened. I'm sure the finale will be better, and it seems obvious now where at least part of the plot is going (Coop's old hedge fun bros basically spelled it out), but man this is such a weirdly paced/structured show.

Completely agree.

Completely bored the entire episode…none of it worked

I thought the exact same thing last night. Neither his mom nor his dad feel in any way like people who are related to or raised Coop.

Also, that car ride convo was so odd. His son was arrested for a high-profile MURDER, he just bailed him out of JAIL, and there was next to no conversation about either.

Show may have peaked with the introduction of the maid.

Seems like they got funding for 4-episodes and then went balls out with the storyline.

I played catchup and did 8 episodes in 2.5 days.

Not a good way to watch this show.

The idea was fun for a few episodes, but it ran out of steam pretty quickly.

I actually found the last episode entertaining. Maybe I'm in the minority but looking forward to the season finale.

The choices in this ep don't really bother me, though I can also totally acknowledge the argument they didn't all track.

The thing I actually found the most odd was Sam telling Mel that she thought Coop had killed her ex. Nothing about him or their situationship would indicate that he would do that, and her knowledge of their situation combined with her really convenient out of town alibi the night he was killed makes me think she may be the one behind all of it.

The maid has also shown herself to be pretty crafty and could have helped set the whole thing up.

My best guesses right now are that the maid stole Coop's cash and Sam hired a hitman to kill her ex-husband.

My biggest issue was the 180 Sam had with Coop unless she's guilty and trying to get the blame placed on him.

With you on the maid stealing the cash.

Was it established that Sam was out of town when the murder happened? Otherwise, as sloppy as the crime scene was left I thought she may have committed the act herself.

100% concur will all of this.

it's a cool series but wholly unbelievable for 75% of it!!

as I stated before- no straight male would ever choose 53 year old Amanda Peet over Olivia Munn!!

You should photoshop yourself into a picture with her like your mfbarnes alter ego does.

I felt like they pretty clearly connected the maid to the theft of his money when they cut to her meeting with the drug dealer right after Coop realized his cash was gone.

What she knew prior to that and how involved she may have been in other events is the real question.

Yup, she was clearly at her parents that night.

Lol.

Decent enough finale, if not maybe a little *too* tidy and easy.

It definitely did not leave me wanting a season 2 (though I'll watch it to see where they go with it). This felt like one of those shows that would have worked best as a one season miniseries.

I liked the finish. About as good as they were going to do with one episode to go.

Definitely in agreement about it being too tidy. That was a... shockingly easy resolution.

And I know I complained a few weeks ago about them seemingly abandoning the core conceit of the show too early (Coop stealing from his friends & neighbors), but Coop returning to that life at this point makes ZERO sense. Succumbing to the addiction/thrill/adrenaline rush of stealing again simply doesn't jive with the man Coop became toward the end of the show, what he realized he lost, what he finally got back, etc.

I get it, there would be no second season otherwise, but that's why the arc and resolution we just witnessed should have been stretched to two or even three seasons. There was so much more meat on that bone, before introducing the whole framed-for-murder plot line.

I'll keep watching for sure, but IMO that was a disappointing homestretch (the last three episodes or so).

I assume he will tell the job he couldn't make it in time and is on a commercial flight? Meanwhile he will live a true double life of working and stealing?

Or he will let the company die, ending his non compete, allowing him to do whatever but he'll get caught in a theft from a camera he didn't know about a la nanny cam.

I may have missed it. Has a second season been confirmed?
20ag07

It's already filming- they picked it up before the first season even premiered assuming it would do well, which it has.

How long do you want to ignore this user?

Yup, apparently already filming.

Agreed that this all wrapped up a bit neatly, his choice at the end is also a bit odd.

That aside, I'm kind of bothered that it seems to have taken weeks to get the updated medical report from the crime scene, not to mention that they weren't able to tell that the shot to the head was self inflicted.

It felt like a rushed series finale. Like something HBO would do. So, it seems strange that it has already been renewed for a second season.

Was wrapped up in a nice package there at the end and had no complaints as they told a complete story. Can see where they tacked on a few minutes there at the end to set up for S2. Gotta wonder if that was necessary, but I guess it gets people talking about it.

I liked it. Fun dark comedy show. Looking forward to season 2.

I got the sense that he passed on the partnership because he realized what he lost (his family) and chose them over the job.

Mischief will ensue

I really don't see a sensical way in which Olivia Munn can return in this.

Enjoyed it as well. Of course there are things that don't make sense, but it was great from a pure entertainment lens.

It sounded like they were setting her to face no serious consequences. A normal person would probably leave that town, and even her character may not be able to afford to stay if she doesn't get the insurance claim, but I'm sure they can come up with something if they want her back.

Really enjoyed the season overall, agree that they tidied up everything a little too good but overall a solid 8/10 show for me.

As soon as the offer was made for Coop to return I felt he would blow them off to let the company (and his noncompete) die so he could start his own firm, starting with the Swiss as his financial backers.

I agree it makes no sense for him to try and make a living as a thief, but maybe they set up season 2 where he needs to do a couple "jobs" to get his firm rolling or to get back at the art dealer.
