True Detective

1st season was one of the best seasons of anything ever then after that they weren't even worth watching.

Going to throw in a vote for Umbrella Academy. First season was pretty good and then … well you know.

Prison Break probably fits this for most but I liked the whole thing regardless of how ridiculous it got.

but it fits because season one is ELITE and then it got pretty bad relatively.

Prison Break and Heroes both had two of the best season ones ever, IMO. Both fell way off after.

I'd exempt True Detective just because it was anthologized instead of being a traditional series with the same cast from season to season. Just happens that S1 was the best anthology.

With that said, I'd say it's a toss-up between Heroes and Westworld. The drop-off from their first seasons to subsequent season(s) was jarring.

I will vote for Walking Dead. The first 2 or so seasons were so good, then started going downhill fast after that until it became a chore to watch each episode.

Agreed. I "hate-watched" in hopes it would turn around, but ultimately gave up.

THAT one scene made the entire first series.

"Two and a Half Men" really fell apart after Charlie Sheen left. Four long, agonizing seasons.

Alan inexplicably turned from nerdy to flaming and the lesbian horndog daughter added nothing. It just got worse and worse.

One of the worst takes I've ever seen, homie! But thanks for participating!

I kinda liked the last two seasons of True Detective… not on par with the first but just the second one was actually awful imo.

The Office after Steve Carrell left. The plot is just whatever sticks on the wall after that.

If they'd have ended it after Jim and Pam got married it would be a top three sitcom of all time.

True Detective Season 4 was one of the worst seasons of any show that I have ever watched.

My ranking/order:
S1 - wow!
S3 - pretty good
S2 - eeh
S4 - woof

I liked season 3 and most of season 4, but hated the ending.

Westworld

Stranger Things wasn't quite as egregious, but man was it a step down from S4.

Yeah, season 4 of TD was kinda like the last season of Westworld where I got into it a bit and thought they had maybe found it and then it crashed at the end, but I was into it most of the way.

I say the same thing all the time! And that 2 parter would have left the viewer imagining the fall out of Michael banging Pam's mom and Dwight hooking up with a bridesmaid. That last sequence where they parody the Chris Brown viral wedding dance was the perfect ending to that series

The Andy Griffith show fell hard when Don Knotts left. One of the greatest shows ever to barely watchable.

He wasn't the star, but it would be like The Office without Dwight Schrute.

Lost.
Be more concerned with your character than with your reputation. Your character is what you really are while your reputation is merely what others think you are.

Im kind of conflicted, my go to answer would be The Walking Dead, but I have rewatched The Office probably 10-20 times, all the way up to when Steve Carrell left the show and couldnt make it more than a few episodes after that. The Robert California/Will Farrell, whatever, I dont even know. So that might be the one for me. I loved and still love that show, but Carrell carried it for sure. I did watch the finale and it was a great cameo for Carrell, but the show seemed like a former shell of itself.

The Walking Dead just kind of kept moving forward, at a glacial speed, doing the same thing over and over to the point where I eventually lost interest around the time that Glenn died. Seeing how they covered themselves in zombie guts to escape the hoard once or twice, and then immediately stopped doing that to survive was just lmao.

Nip/Tuck…..I believe it was also a victim of the strike if I remember correctly. It was one of the "edgier" shows when it came out on F/X. I only watched the final season to completion because I had been there from the beginning….brutal.

The Netflix version of Dracula. The first season was great, the second season was bad, the third season was unimaginably terrible.

For me it is Heroes. I wonder what it could have been without the writers' strike. By the time that wrapped up all of the plotlines had been mangled.

The ratings likely wont reflect it but I'll throw in Yellowstone.

I think the first season is amazing. The plot for each one after that gets more and more ridiculous. Eventually just becomes a show people watch for the characters, even though all the women characters in it suck. And just way too damn much horse training footage.

If you turn off the season finale right when the mother dies, it's an almost perfect ending.

I'll also echo Stranger Things. Realize this is an unpopular opinion, but I don't care. Couldn't get into it after Season 3, and even Season 3 showed the fraying ends of a show I liked a lot at the beginning.

I'll also echo Homeland, although I will say the series finale was pretty good. I found Carrie to be so insufferable and irritating that I was hoping someone would kill her.

Started watching Industry, but I find the main protagonist to be irritating as well. How has she risen to such a level of prominence? How has she become so relevant? Her snaggle tooth appearance bugs me as does her character. Is anyone on that entire show likeable?

You should watch the last 4-5 episodes of the final season. The finale is really good.
