[Allowing users with histories off platform that have nothing to do with what happens on this platform and "welcoming" are two different things. Enjoy the time off. When moderatation happens to a post. It's best to email, not keep posting. -Staff]

I've been suspended for a day or two recently and have had multiple posts disappear without any explanation from staff. It would be really cool if you would let me know why my posts have been deleted. I realize this is a free site so you really don't owe me anything, but it would still be cool if you'd let me know what rules I violated.

[As stated in our user agreement and on every auto-generated email sent to a user whose had their posting privilages suspended, if you have any questions about the ban you can email moderator@texags.com. We have no email record from you asking about any of your tempbans in 2025. We do have an email from you asking about why a thread was deleted on 3/9/25. You were answered on 3/11/25, which was within the 48 hour window we try our best to answer all emails sent to us. Users are always welcome to email us about any action taken on their account or a post, per the user agreement that all users sign when creating an account here. -Staff]

[We removed your post because you were spreading false information. You claimed that you have been banned multiple times, often in the middle of the night, and the record shows you have only received two 24hr timeouts in fourteen months. We're not going to let you misrepresent the moderation on this board. We also do not shadow ban any accounts. When an account is banned they are sent a notice of the ban automatically. Users are not led to beleive they can still post here when they can't post here. That is not a practice we engage in here. We do reserve the right to take down any post at any time, but that is not a shadow ban. If you want to discuss further, please email moderator@texags.com -- Staff]

A downvote function might help. That could just be a response, not flagging or posting further replies?

Kind of not a fan of downvoting either. The culture of needing blue stars is bad enough as it is.

Not a fan of down voting either, as it would kill the flow of the conversation.
Down votes do not interrupt flow. Not the function. Never been on a site that uses that function? Not an erasures or banning feature.

It would be interesting if we could see on our account page some of our own statistics on posts deleted, bans issued, etc.

One bit of credit I will give mods is that they do lift bans from time to time when posters make a compelling case for the ban being a misunderstanding or disproportionate to the violation. I've had a couple of bans lifted early. I also appreciate the mods taking a somewhat more consistent approach recently toward posts that advocate violence.

On an aside, my favorite ban was when I got time off for using the phrase "bag of dicks" and pointed out to staff there were more than 600 instances of the phrase being used by other people, even after my post was deleted and I got banned. They did not end my ban early, but instead added "dick" to the word filter list.

Agree. We were always respectful and caring.. I don't care what happens in your bedroom. Would you care about what happens in my bedroom?

I think not. And have zero problem with that.

[Create a thread that frames the discussion and it will not be locked. This is a discussion forum, not an X/Tweet forwarding platform. A very small percentage of threads have ever been locked or moderated for this reason. You are welcome to email us further about the policy. moderator@texags.com We will not clutter up the thread with this discussion. -Staff]

plz no ban, and I understand the point of eliminating "discussion" on the funny political tweet thread since that is the point of the thread, but replying to someone's post is eliminated 100% of the time?

i guess one user complained a few months ago that people would go on and on "for pages" [citation needed] instead of just being full of x links and memes, but that thread isn't as good as it used to be.

Sure, if a squabble or argument goes on "for pages", I get it, clean it up.

But not being able to even comment on the things being posted has made the thread lesser in my opinion.

again, not criticizing moderation, just saying. Most people used to use that thread like me -- posting something that might not deserve its own thread. If you dont like it, keep scrolling. It's not hard. Changing the mod policy on that thread because of a single complaint from a single user that isn't a paying user over a thread that was doing just fine for over 7 years seems a little much.

That's me you are referencing. It wasn't a complaint. It was a statement of fact. There was a day with 3 pages in a row with no memes posted. Luckily it all got deleted. If you have a funny meme in reply to another meme they leave it up. Otherwise, make a new thread for the discussion, and frame the topic in the OP.
There was "a day", in a post that is over 7 years old, that you didnt like. And your complaint made the thread worse off and over-moderated, in my opinion. And I also agreed with you, if it gets too much out of the spirit of the post, fine, get rid of it. There's a happy-medium between wiping off slapfights between users and simply replying to a post with a comment and being deleted because it's not just a meme or twitter link.

My comment stands.

I'm very happy with the ignore button and that's worth the five bucks a month. Unfortunately, so many of you continue to argue, and quote, with known trolls instead of, you know, ignoring them

This boards been through a lot and still standing strong. Libs failed at canceling it.

I think a major problem is too many people look at this board as their own, private domain.

In their mind this board is only for those who think and believe like them. If you don't, you shouldn't be here. Despite the fact I was on Texags before the crash

I have grown and learned from posters on here, but because I am not in lock step, I need the 19th amendment repealed.
Ok

It doesn't matter I do agree with some aspects of conservatives, what matters is I don't agree with all of it.

It is sad what this board has become in 20 years.

It's more about zingers than discussion about all sides of issues

Any way, time to get in some second floor laps before breakfast and a visit from Demon Spawn and his dad

Have a good, fun filled Sunday. When you have a kid like mine, it is never not fun

I've been banned a few times. Some I agreed with and some actually got lifted early because the mods saw my point on the email exchange.

If there was a change I'd make it would be, as others have suggested, to show the offending post in the email notice of the ban. At the very least it would save staff a lot of time not having to answer the first obvious email from the users asking "why and which one?"

Nah. Nah man!! The objective is to post and get the flock, most of which is conservative and i agree with, to give you lots of stars.

Ban suggestion:
Perhaps bans escalate beginning with banning the offending poster from the given thread (would solve 95% of the issues), and if the poster doesn't get the message, a forum-specific ban, and then on to a forum-wide ban. That might be a bit protracted but more palatable. Just a thought.

The forum software does not support that, I bet.
I was an admin on a forum some time ago, and you could only ban or not ban. No granularity.
The board software is not modifiable by TA unless they hack the code.

Fairly certain TexAgs has done most of their own code. It's why the layout and function is so much better than other, trashy sites.

Yep, can be done. I used to do it to the forum I managed but it is not a trivial feature to add and I don't think it is worthwhile for TA staff to add that in (in my opinion).

Also gotta give props to Brandon and his team. As much as the hive mind here beeches about moderation (which is justified at times), overall the mods are small potatoes.

I've been impressed by Brandon's resilience, took several (admittedly kinda limp wristed, but it is libs) canceling attempts in stride. Not once was the board shuttered or temporarily shut down, none of that.

That took guts, especially during COVID and the Trump era so far.

I know it sounds like I'm kissing his ass, but it's more just a job well done review. Here's to many more years of fun discussion on here.
