average monthly gain 12 months previous = 146k

UE at 4.1%, down from 4.2%

eta: if you were looking for a Fed rate cut this month, it's out the window imo

Quote:

Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 147,000 in June, and the unemployment rate
changed little at 4.1 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Job gains
occurred in state government and health care. Federal government continued to lose jobs.

Stare government. Fed government still down. Let the liberal states blow their wad trying to prop up formerly unemployed bureaucrats and NGO lackeys.

1 government job created for each private job created.

That is unsustainable.

Sorry, but these are just crap numbers. Even if they were bigger they are still crap. These numbers have become so politicized we'll never get the real unemployment truth out of our government ever again. Our politicians need to hang out in the real world for once and take a look at all the layoffs happening and stop deluding themselves with all these fake reports.

And as far as using this to determine policy - lol at that when you are counting gov jobs.

LoL, I posted the BLS link to the actual numbers. I posted the original source and you come back with some news article.

State government jobs are at the top.

Can you do simple artithmetic and data comparison? Open the table and look at the numbers. Most of the jobs created were state government jobs! Stop posting your misinformation bull*****

You must be looking at a different chart than the one you linked. Government jobs are at the bottom, and it isn't "most" of the jobs created in June. Its roughly half, which agrees to what I posted

State government jobs - 47k

Please find another category that is more than that.

Are you going to use the aggregate of private jobs? That is not a valid comparison.

32% is not most, state jobs are the highest percentage class in the report but you referenced "the report" which is a total of 147k. So your post is factually incorrect.

You're arguing over semantics. Point is Federal government jobs shrank and private company jobs in total grew by more than government jobs in total. Your use of "most" is both atypical and even inaccurate in the way you're using it as health and education as a subcategory went up by 51 vs your state gov 47.

No, that's pretty much how it will happen.

I've got friends, also in leadership, in two different state agencies (one here in Texas and the other in Florida), and they are seeing their agencies grow in the next few years, in spite of the threat of AI.

AI will eventually replace many jobs in the public sector, but only when politicians want to be responsible for job losses. I wouldn't hold my breath on seeing that happen anytime in the near future.
