Not only could she not remember when such a supposedly traumatic event actually occurred, neither could anyone else she told about it. Remember, she initially claimed it happened before the dress she claimed to have been wearing was even produced. After that, she could only give a vague time period. Really convenient way to prevent the accused from proving they weren't in NYC when the event supposedly occurred.
Keep in mind, she could remember the type of shoes she was wearing. But not even the exact month that it happened. Hence the jury decided that it "probably" happened.
