Things like this are creating all sorts of unintended consequences throughout our culture. It's probably 25 years too late but we really need to have an adult discussion on how technology is encroaching into our lives.

More than likely by the time this dude got home, his wife had the divorce papers ready and his board was texting him for a 7am emergency meeting.

It's much harder to cheat now and not get caught. This is a good consequence of technology and one I immensely support. Cheaters are 100% always reprehensible people and always have other vices and issues in addition to infidelity.

For better or worse information is money. There are various ways to profit off of it - distribution, commentary, etc. Even though most of us don't care for "influencers" or social media in actuality it is a very capitalistic thing to be doing.

When people don't want to publicly shame those that degrade our culture, out culture degrades at a faster pace. Though I don't like someone getting exposed in what they thought was personal time in a public space, I'm glad to see people are calling out the indecency.

Our populace is hesitant to shame those degrading our culture thanks to social media pressure, the push for DEI, and HR being the corporate enforcement arm. And it has become a stigma to talk to each other about sensitive topics thus the important issues become driven by the easily influenced masses, often via MSM.

Have you watched the recent documentary on Amazon about the 4 Idaho student muders?

The family and friends of the victims were doxed online and accused of being part of the murder. Some of the websites accusing them are actually still active.

Is that a good thing for the overall culture in the long term? As tech advances, are people going to completely withdraw from public due to this kind of thing?

That conversation has to start with what activities should expect a reasonable level of privacy.

Certainly on one end, you have what you say to your spouse inside of the walls of your house that iot may be listening to. On the opposite end of that spectrum is hanging all over your affair in non-exclusive highly visible area behind a glass wall at a public concert.

What a gross statement. And you're wrong, the issue is cheating on your spouse and family. Glad they got caught.

Cheating is wrong. Making it public knowledge when they have kids is worse.

For the ones having the affair, sure.

For all the innocent bystanders, I think they might benefit more in the long run. I think I would rather know why my home is broken than to have to sit there and think it might be me. Maybe not.

I love using ridiculous examples to tease out a point...is murder more ok if noone knows? Is there net good (or at least less bad) to keeping murder secret? To some degree, it seems like we're treating cheating as a victimless crime here.

I think the issue is more that those people have serious personal problems and they need to correct their lives, and be accountable for their behavior to their families and business.

It is also a problem that we all also know about it just to satisfy our salacious curiosity. Gossip is actually regarded as a sinful or at least objectionable behavior biblically, and yet we essentially live ina culture awash in the digital form of it. There are a lot of things we become aware of that really aren't our business.

That's a great point and I hadn't thought about it that way.

The question for me then becomes why does someone consume social media and not that social media itself is bad.

In the past, speaking & conversations were the tool that enabled gossip. To say in that period of time that speaking & conversations were the bad action would have been wrong as they were only the conduit through which the bad happened. I think you could say the same thing about social media, it's the conduit and not necessarily the bad action itself.

As someone that's been on the non kiss cam side of this
situation. You're absolutely wrong. And unless you've been there, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Don't want your kids to find out? Then keep it in your pants.

I'd start with an OPT IN button requirement before any digital data was sold via apps etc. Instead our data being sold unless we opt out (if thats even an option).

In addition to that no selling of data from anyone under 18 unless there is Opt in. It's wrong for a corporation to know way more about a child and their online habits than the parents.

As far as public recording issues, thats a long conversation that probably ends running up against the 1st Amendment.
