What it recognized is the amorphous concept of a Palestinian state. They're really an amalgam of local Islamic cultural groups with Levantine ties that are collectively upset nobody will just give them a nation after various geopolitical events of the 20th century.
They collectively tried to take over Jordan and failed. They've tried pushes on Israel and failed. They have a conglomeration of authoritarian terrorist groups operating as government in different areas they reside in that fight each other for dominance, but no stable leadership. They've adopted a sort of collective grievance culture
These are poor ingredients for a nation state. I think people have deluded themselves that granting the Palestinian peoples a geographical area to govern will placate them, and it may for a few, but the culture is one of violence and vengeance towards Israel and any other state in the region that denies their territorial claims and I believe a small state would serve merely as a base of operations for future conflict, sadly. The culture of violence is the problem.

I don't think the Palestinians themselves want to be their own nation. Based on what? International grift and Islamic jihad? They have no resources, no infrastructure, no productive labor force, and neighbors who abhor them. They can't even claim to have good fighters, they got their jihad and when the Israeli Army crossed their border on rolled down Main Street of Gaza did they put up a fanatical determined resistance? No! They withered and fled to refugee camps.

What the Israelis have done to them since Oct 7 will be remembered as the good times compared to what they'll do to themselves.

They're stuck in tribal ways of thinking. There was no border configuration that would have avoided the conflicts we see today from these Muslim goat herders.

Tribalism and a history of nomadic living is at the core of the issues.

Having a religion that justifies pillaging your neighbors if you don't like them is not helpful.
