In fact, it looks like the West Bank will be carved up into Emirates, with the local sheiks ruling their turf, instead of the corrupt Palestinian authority. Everyone with any skin in the game is ready to give up on Palestinian democracy, partly because there never was such a thing as Palestine or Palestinian until 1948, with the only thing unifying them is that they weren't part of Isreal. When the Ottomans ruled this part of the world, there was no Palestine, no Lebanon, no Syria, and no Jordan, just tribes. Looks like the West Bank will revert to tribal rule, and Sryia may have to as well, if the Druze are to be saved.

Tribes have been fighting over the same piece of land for 1000s of years. Everyone has a "legitimate claim" in their minds.


This is just the same story packaged for a modern audience.


Nothing is going to change even if the Palestinians and Jews both had a million acres to develop......they are still going to fight.

Well I know the Brits did in the Middle East in the early 1900s, a small part of all the ongoing problems there the last 100 years

Britain and France gained the territory from the defunct Ottoman Empire after WW1 and the lines they drew for their colonies, which for the most part are the same for the now independent countries in the area, have been a big part of the problem with all the wars in that part of the Middle East.
