Doing it based on metrics would be ideal, but we don't live in ideal.

If you don't think that this is whole stunt is being funded and strategized by a Democratic National Party think tank (hopefully not using our tax-payer dollars) then you're kidding yourself. They want this to be a national headline to try and help the Democratic Party. There are precedents in the written in Texas Law about this, so its in no way an over-reach by the governor to enforce the clearly stated law.

The felony charge is a bribery allegation. That will require a grand jury indictment and will take time to become actionable.
The abandonment of the House is a misdemeanor and that warrant will not normally cross state lines without strong support in the other state.
Well lets fire up the grand jury and start by subpoenaing the Ds who fled to ask them under oath if anybody has offered or is helping to pay their fines. If they don't show up to testify, add skipping the subpoena to their charges. Then start dragging in the people offering raising the funds to pay the fines and get them under oath. Maybe charge them with attempted bribery for raising the funds. Lets see how much pain we can inflict on the left and its funding apparatus before they decide that the inevitable is actually inevitable.

You forgot conspiracy charges. They planned it in advance. They were aided and abetted by people in IL and NY in this. So, if they accepted help in their political act then what follows is that the time and assistance of those individuals in assisting with their logistics (as the IL Governor put it) then that is aiding and abetting. So consipracy.
Now if you wanted to get the DOJ involved then there would be crossing state lines so you might be able to use 18 U.S.C. 371 or 18 U.S.C. 1952. Further money changing hands to pay for this could then invoke wire charges and other process charges. So many interesting choices if the DOJ gets involved.
After what the Dems put our country through with lawfare it's about time they suffered some of the exact same consequences. Lots and lots of them. Midnight raids in front of cameras. Search warrants. Anyone that isn't on TV gets their house tossed. Look through all their documents and communications because of conspiracy, solicitation of bribery and everything else. They wanted a new norm. They should wallow in it to learn those lessons.

My rep has proposed for the GOP to start removing them from chairmanships, stripping seniority, reassigning their offices to MUCH smaller accommodations (moving freshmen GOP into dem leadership offices) , stripping out their office staff salary.
Time for the gloves to come off.
However, the current Texas GOP lacks the balls to do this as Dustin Burrows allowed Democrats to chair committees (a blatant snub to the grassroots and RPT platform).
We are watching.
Texas House Democrats abandoned their duty and are holding flood relief and property tax cuts hostage.

I ordered Texas DPS to arrest and return every derelict House Democrat to the Texas Capitol.
This order will remain in effect until all missing Democrats are accounted for. pic.twitter.com/A87u2JxYU7

He is not their boss. He did not hire them, and he should not be able to fire them. A governor firing a congressman is the opposite of representative government.
I disagree with elected officials being little *****es and fleeing to other states like a bunch of cowards, and I would never vote for for someone who has ever done something like this. But if their constituents support their behavior, there is nothing I nor the governor should be able to do about it.
We are a republic, not a dictatorship.

I thought last time they did this the rule is DPS cannot go out of state to retrieve them. Eventually you wait them until the Dems realize no one is listening to them, and the money runs out, and they kids miss em, so they go home and back to Austin.
All theatrics. Which the Dems have long been so bad at theatrics most would rather watch 700 Club reruns.

Thug Texas Democrat curses at Gov. Greg Abbott and says she hasn’t broken any law by fleeing her duties in Texas.

She’s low IQ enough to think Texas hadn’t anticipated what she and her deranged Dem ilk are doing.
She’ll be fined, prosecuted, and expelled.pic.twitter.com/ZjrVC4PJAs
