The fact that they did not announce a ceasefire, did not take any questions from the press, and the body language was cold and not real happy, at least on Trump's part, is it good indication that this was probably not a major success.

I'm reminded of the first Regan and Gorbachev meeting....sometimes it takes time.

Just like during the Cold War, it's better to be talking

I've worked in and visited both countries....I have friends in both. I would like to see an agreement to stop the killing

It's probably an issue that no ceasefire/sanctions/oil-gas exploration agreement was reached. Not surprising, really, but disappointing of course. The Biden proxy-war hawks will celebrate, undoubtedly.

I suspect we are closer to an end than the war caucus will admit though. The question is whether Kiev will insist on continuing.

Found it interesting that Trump called out the Russian delegation for being almost as famous as the boss, especially one. Was that Lavrov who wore the CCCP sweater? Is Lavrov causing the hold up on the "major" point?

There was no mention of a cease fire or even progress toward a cease fire. For me that's a complete bust.

"Being close" to a deal with Putin is not being close to anything.

Putin is clearly stringing things out to move further into Ukraine.

Trump needs to implement sanctions immediately. That's the only thing that's going to move the needle with Putin.

Is it at all possible they don't want to broadcast what was agreed upon until talking with Zelensky? Probably best to give this some time before determining if it was successful or not.

Agree to disagree. Any progress means it's not a bust. IMO. And we have no idea what was discussed.

We'll see what happens next. I think Fox is interviewing Trump later. Glad they're talking rather than not talking.

Not sure anything can be " agreed upon " without talking to Zelensky

Maybe this is part of a complicated ceasefire really looks like Putin trying to avoid sanctions and Trump trying to make something happen without going all in to help Ukraine

Not this one. This is very normal stuff if you lived through the Cold War. U.S. presidents were meeting with Brezhnev while the Soviets were directly contributing to killing U.S. servicemen in Vietnam.
