So that would make you a Nancy Pelosi fan by that logic.

Why?
The recent history of "recognizable" names who have been elected have been extremely disappointing, not to mention the skills that made him rich have zero practical application to politics.
You're right by definition, but I'll take an athlete over somebody that went to law school and has been working in a government elected officeholders spot or office for the last 30 years and don't know **** in the real world
And millionaire ball players know about the real world? You must be kidding.

Why is Tex a cool name for team in southern Oklahoma?
What do they know about laws and how and why those laws are drafted and interpreted and applied the way they are? Someone primarily tasked with making laws needs to have studied the law extensively and ideally practiced it to be any good at it. You could still learn that stuff in other ways than getting a JD and working as an attorney but there's a reason that's been the default background for our legislators forever.LegalDrugPusher said:TexasAggie73 said:LegalDrugPusher said:powerbelly said:LegalDrugPusher said:powerbelly said:Quote:

No, I'm not kidding. I guarantee the majority of them know a lot more about the real world than some person that's been in DC their entire life and never has left the halls of Congress or some bureaucratic DC building.

Yes, you didn't say business to politics verbatim, but you're already assuming this guy can't do the job. You can be successful in many things and apply it in different ways. So yeah, you kinda did.
How about somebody being an attorney after being in the Navy? Is that somehow more relatable? I'm more practical application? Many of Congress and former presidents have been in completely different businesses and adapted.
So yeah, again, you kinda did.

As I said, I don't think you should have specifically the job of making laws unless you have studied laws and how they work extensively. Not every lawyer is qualified of course, and not every qualified person is a lawyer. I'm skeptical that pro sports is a good background though.
