No. He's a gigantic empty suit. He was my state rep and the guy talks a lot of smooth-sounding stuff, but he's actually an idiot. He went off in an interview once about all the gender nonsense, claiming that there were six genders.

That being said, he probably will get the nomination, for the same reason Beto did. I suspect he will suck up a lot of Democrat resources and probably lose in the end. The one hope for Dems is if the Rs wound Cornyn, but can't beat him. I will grant shifty that he's going to make some inroads as this cycle's Elmer Gantry. (Great and influential book by the way for whoever mentioned that - did a senior honors English thesis on it).

Hard core Democrats will lap it up because they have no values or ethics and will use any means necessary to win no matter what. If it's Elmer Gantry masquerading as a fake Christian, then so be it.

Independents and undecideds will lap it up because they are feckless with no real grounding in any beliefs other than wanting mommy and daddy to just get along.
