According to KWTX's coverage from the first trial, jurors were bitterly divided and the young victim did not want to testify for a second time, leading prosecutors to strike a plea deal.

So the truth is that this wasn't some buddy of Paxton's that he let off the hook. The truth is that the prosecution had given it their best with the child as the main witness, and the jury was still divided.

Just how do you think a retrial would have gone without the witness testifying? What are the chances a conviction would have been secured without the child's testimony??? Or, are you suggesting that the child should have been forced to testify again and perhaps still watch the perpetrator be acquited?

ETA: Since you already stated earlier that you indeed would place the child on the stand again as a forced witness, I have your answer. But if you think that the majority of rational people in this state agree with that inane take, you are sadly mistaken. AND, if you believe that refusing to put an unwilling child through that experience again makes Paxton directly responsible for the failure to convict, then I suggest you keep banging that pot, because making noise is all you will accomplish from this point forward on this issue.

Yes, imagine.

Unfortunately it is no longer a reality. We now live in a world that the pleasant, congenial, faithful public servant that we all would love to have will actually be chewed up and spit out by the opposition who will fabricate attacks if they have nothing concrete to attack an opponent with.

Most family men or women who have a normal job/income now make the decision to not get into that cesspool that is politics at the national level. So we are now left with an imperfect brawler who is adept at going toe-to-toe with the opposition in the very mud pit that THEY created.

The democrats changed the rules. So now, Republicans have adapted in the only way possible. Unfortunate, but it is the new reality.

During Wesley Hunt's campaign, he was on the Ruthless podcast and made a comment that I found hilarious.

He basically stated that Beto and Talarico were both lab-created by the Democrat establishment in the mold of what THEY believed would be attractive to a Texas voter.

As time has gone on, I realize it was not just a joke. There's significant truth in it. The out-of-state influence on the persona of Beto, Jazzy, Rico and others is a manufactured image of what they think will sell to normal Texans. As was that crazy "I'm a man" commercial for Kamala - now Talarico.

They keep thinking that it will sell. But they are simply doing the same thing once again hoping for different results. And I'm enjoying every minute of it.
