What a swing in performance. I've almost never seen those highs and lows.

I've been a bit busy and haven't listened to as many podcasts as usual and I haven't re-watched the game... how did Guyton do?

I noticed Steele and the Rookie a couple times which is never a good thing for O-line, but I don't recall noticing Guyton once. Feels like he played well and was as advertised from training camp... much improved over last year.

Ironically enough, I put on the Broadus/Cavanaugh video (background noise at work) immediately after posting my question above and their first topic was Guyton.

According to them, the PFF grade on Guyton wasn't great but they both felt like they really liked what they saw. He played with confidence, played with strength, just did a lot of things that were nowhere to be seen last year. They say he still has things to work on, but he's going about things the right way and they see him as a rising player.

And I doubt this is seriously being discussed at The Star, but it sounds like the media people are already wondering if we need to start giving Nate Thomas reps at RT. Steele isn't awful, but he's probably average at best and if Thomas is comparable (as a 2nd year player) it might be time to make a switch.

Guyton, like could be said for the whole line, struggled in pass protection by giving up five pressures. Considering what his preseason was I don't think it was awful. We have one of the youngest lines in the league as well.

The worst of the team was by far linebackers. Murray was atrocious and shouldn't be in the field (everyone's opinion not just mine). Sanborn not far behind. It's time to play some of the younger guys.

I've said it dozens of times and I'll keep saying it... Overshown is one of the best players we've drafted in the past 4 years and it took maybe 3 snaps in the 1st preseason game his rookie year for me to say "we've got a STUD" right here.

It's an absolute travesty that he's suffered 2 devastating/bad luck injuries.

In 13 games played for us this guy has 90 tackles, 5 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recover, and 1 INT which he took to the house.

Absolute animal and we win that game on Thursday if he's on the field.

I'll also say this about LB... 100% we need to trade for a player right now. A good one! Look how much our interior DL improved with the addition of 1 guy. The Eagles just traded for Tank Bigsby, it's not too soon to start making moves.

I'll also go so far as to say that if we can keep our W/L record playoff worthy for 3/4 of the season until Overshown gets back (maybe around Thanksgiving), I seriously believe (assuming he comes back 100%) that he will have a Charles Haley like impact for this defense.

I haven't heard that before but I never heard it so beautifully put. This Parsons trade was so good for us. We now have a run stopping DT. I've been begging for an interior lineman for years and it came at the right time. We have the dbs to give us time to get after the passer, assuming Revel hits. Now, hopefully we can earn the right to rush the passer and I truly believe we will if our LBers are decent. Overshown can't get back fast enough.

Do we know anything more about Revel? Didn't the dad say 6-8 weeks about 6 weeks ago?

With Micah gone, he's probably the best player on defense. Assuming he comes back 100%, I'd love for Jerry to get him an extension this offseason (next year is his contract year).

He's on the "active/non-football injury" which I'm guessing is allowed since the injury was before he was drafted. I think that means he is eligible to return as soon as he's better.

But yes, I'm under the impression it will be at least mid-way through the season before he's recovered. And even then, not sure what we can expect from a rookie who had zero offseason/camp.

I've seen it floated that this could be a redshirt type of season for Revel. The last 25% of his rehab/recovery etc. hasn't proceeded as quickly as they thought. I agree, maybe midway point of the season he'll be back, but I'd bet he's not a full-time starter unless need be.

I'm honestly okay with him not getting suspended. All he did was spit on daks jersey. He didn't put hands on anyone. Spitting is one step above calling someone a p***y or c**t.

Why would we pay him anything? He's 100% washed.... the Panthers are absolutely terrible and they cut him.

Oh damn. I didn't see that. Looks like he was placed on IR at least till mid-October. I guess that means Mazi is back up.

Clowney is totally washed, but if they want him for a few weeks while someone else is on IR, he can be a depth piece. Wouldn't expect much though.

I'm guessing you are referring to Perrion (Winfrey)... yeah I heard that as well. I also heard that it's a bit of gamesmanship. He and the Cowboys are exaggerating his back spasms as a way to keep him around while not having to hold an active roster spot for him.

I wouldn't think this would change much for the D-line though. We were already really heavy at that position and I don't see a need to add somebody else to the room. Between the roster guys and the practice squad guys we have plenty of warm bodies.

Dak came over to take up for his rookie OLineman. He spit between them. Carter asked "did you spit at me?" and then spit back.

Sounds like Bland is injured and could miss a few weeks. Great.

Yikes. Feels like Diggs and Bland almost never play together.

Bland out 4 weeks. Giants got embarrassed last week. Wilson's back against the wall.

49'ers are absolutely decimated right now. 2-3 years ago they were the prototype franchise... fast forward and this looks to be 2 years in a row where they might be drafting top 10. Yikes.
