I actually prefer liberated areas to stay liberated, but I guess I'm in the minority on that. Is there a reason they are resetting in this game?

Having said that, nothing stays liberated in Elden Ring which I'm currently playing, but you kind of need them to respawn to get the experience so you can continue leveling. Is that the same concept here?

There was a complaint from a person that played the game for 230 hours (yes, 230 hours), and said he only had a few bosses left to beat, but since the map doesnt repopulate, the game felt empty. I think the devs hyper-reacted to this corner case and allowed this type of thing to keep people happy, but it seems like it was unnecessary. Just my opinion, but if people want to smash a button to repop the map and have more fun after TWO HUNDRED AND THIRTY HOURS....okay.

Game on.

Just buy it already, YouBet. You'll love it. I was skeptical at first, but now I'm drowning in just getting in and playing. It's fun.

I can't. I'm sucked into Elden Ring now. That will probably take me two more months to finish. By then, maybe this will be on sale. When I turned on PS today though, I got an immediate message from PS telling me that Crimson Desert is surging WORLDWIDE. Such taunting.

Saw in patch notes where they added (or will add) new moves for the other two characters so there is a point to actually use them.

Improved Damiane and Oongka so that they have more abilities useful for open-world gameplay.

Added 'Axiom Force', 'Nature's Snare' and related abilities for Damiane and Oongka.

Improved Damiane's 'Shield Toss' and Oongka's 'Scatter Shot' ability so that they have the same effect as Kliff's 'Force Palm'.

Changed the control inputs for Damiane's 'Skystep' and Oongka's 'Vertical Flight' ability.

I like being able to play as all 3 characters. It is amazing to me how they actually feel different. Oongka 'feels' heavy and not very mobile. Damiane 'feels' light and fluid and not very sturdy. Looking back at the sections where you play them in the game, I wish there was more of an ability to use and get used to them before their respective highlighted spots.

BTW: This game has the uncanny ability to make you think you've only been playing for an hour or so and you look up and it's been 3-4 or more.

anyone else having an issue getting the Haldin bounty? I think my playthrough is having an issue. It does not matter how many times I go to the area or what time I go he never shows up. I've even stayed in the area for 2 in game days to see if he'd show and nothing.

IIRC, it is timing issue. He isn't there outside of the morning time slot.

I'll have to try that specifically. He is the only bounty in Hernand that I'm missing

for some reason one of my quests is broken from the blacksmith guy in camp where i have a rhett's longsword and cannot turn it in. It's in my inventory, but has been modified or reinforced or something and I had purchased it and been using it prior to getting the quest. someone said to drop it in the forest and come back later and pick it up....annnnd its gone.

And Rhett is out of stock for it.

edit: Evidently, i threw it at the edge of camp and if the NPCs find stuff in camp, they pick it up and put it in storage. still cant turn it in, though.

Finally broke down and jumped in. Really liking it so far. The only bad experience I've had is two crashes in 8 hours and both were quite a bit of time lost. I realize I have the classic Fallout problem where I don't save often enough but I hope the crashes don't continue.

I would make sure your game-ready drivers are up to date. Should prevent it.

Well now I feel like an idiot lol. I built my own PC last year and didn't install any of Nvidia's bloatware. As such I always have to remember to update when a new game comes out that I want to try and it somehow slipped my mind to update drivers before playing. Thanks for the reminder.

Pro-tip, you can get elemental imbuements a lot sooner than you realize, like Chapter 4. I was already getting into Chapter 8 and started meeting bosses that used a lot of elements and had to look up info on how to get the elements.

I won't spoil it here but the game does not give you a single clue about this process, and when you do what you are supposed to do, it doesnt even tell you that you unlocked the element skill, you just suddenly have it. I am generally okay with lack of hand holding, but this is just cryptic design.

What do you all do when you stumble into a boss fight? I found a questline last night that I had already beaten one of the three bosses earlier in the game.

Very good combat mechanic breakdown and how your stamina and spirit work together.

If you go into focus mode like you are rebuilding spirit and do the nature snare move you can capture most ranged attacks and natural attacks and shoot them back at the enemy

Question and apologies for my frequent derails here:

Is this game similar to Elden Ring in that story is very light and it's more of a grind to kill the next big boss kind of game? I'm liking Elden Ring but frankly getting tired of the grind without any story to go with it. Just feels like work at this point.

The story was candidly lame and really confusing to start with, but I do think the CD story gets better as you go. It's not one where the dots are wonderfully connected by any means, but there is some story to it.

The story gets better. But the game is really a choose your own adventure. The exploration is top notch.

ER story is incredibly rich and deep... backdrop written by George R.R. Martin. Everything oozes the world that he created. Story is epic but you have to look deep if you want to understand everything. It's not spoon-fed.

CD I have no idea what's going on and I don't care. Each night I just do what I feel like doing. Haven't advanced the main quest in a while. I still don't know what the overarching story is. Apparently I'm off chasing some dude but how he ties into any story, beats me. Trying to clear out all side quests before advancing but random quests just keep popping up. No idea how they got there sometimes. Most quests are trash. Half of them you teleport to some waypoint, talk to a dude and teleport back to finish. The whole gathering your comrades is beyond ridiculous. How many missions just have you port somewhere to listen to some dialogue on how that group of greymanes have been wasting their time. I get it as far as rebuilding the camp but how many times you have to do that?

I still like the game. Very good time waster. Maybe the best out there.

I think the story is that Kliff is a badass in a medieval kingdom and can just wake up every day and do random ****, including just murdering whoever he wants and stealing whatever he wants, as long as he pays the penalties

There are a ton of puzzles up in the Abyss, holy ****. The game doesnt tell you when you initially fall, but you can go right back up there and do quite a few. If you find a new spire it unlocks a new chain of them and they seem to be clumped up in groups of 4-5

I understand the backdrop of the story but it's all background and ancient history though. I guess you could say it's rich and deep but hardly any of it is relevant in current time. You are essentially just traveling around a shattered, fossil of a world with this backdrop of history that is long since dead.

When I beat Margit, I assumed something would change about Stormveil Castle to reflect me positively changing the world back to what it once was. Nope. He's gone but all of the other enemies are still there and respawned so it seemed pointless other than the initial high of defeating him.

Sorry for derail! I'll stop.
