Exactly. So give the ticket to the driver. Oh wait...they already do.

I'm guessing there probably aren't many laws that you're NOT opposed.

The funniest thing about that graphic is that it's so true. I tried my best to turn away from this one, but I just can't stand letting TexasRebel be so wrong.

I think I'm done this time though. We're clearly just talking in circles.

Circles indeed... though I think you actually tightened the circle with the last few posts.

It is a good thing I'm not wrong about anything on this thread.

Is it just me, or is your license plate number and the information that comes up on the 10-28 *public record*?

If your license plate isn't private information, and the status of your registration/inspection isn't private information (it obviously isn't), no one disputes that you can be required to present proof of insurance and your criminal record (including warrants) is also public record... how can looking up any of that information be an invasion of PRIVACY?

It isn't private.

Because rebel doesn't like traffic laws, therefore anything pertaining to those traffic laws is bad, unconstitutional, and down right un FAIR.

That's his general argument on this whole mess.
TexasRebel

You realize I'm not against random 10-28's right, 08?

I'm against stopping a driver solely because of an expired registration.

and speeding tickets, and....

It's the law bro. Sometimes, in the simple interest of justice, you're given a warning, most often it's a few bucks to go get most tickets like registration dismissed, but you STILL BROKE THE LAW.
TexasRebel

and I'm not opposed to a fine being mailed to the owner... who, as Hoss points out, is normally the driver.

So, you see a vehicle with expired (but matching) tags, and you mail them a fine...

If the plates don't match or have been reported stolen, by all means... pull them over.

Laws change, bud. The most notable change was when they wrote them down the first time. Take speeding for example. Do you know how fast the first driver to get a speeding ticket had been traveling? What do you think would happen if you went to 1987 and told a cop you were doing 65 down the highway and you hadn't put a sticker on your plate this year? He would't care much about that open bottle... Heck, how about telling the 1920's that your favorite spirit is Scotch and you're appalled that professional athletes would break the law to get an edge by using a performance enhancing supplement.

I've always wondered why cops are allowed to carry guns everywhere. Wouldn't it make sense for them to keep them locked in the car where they can't be stolen?
ursusguy
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Of course it would. Finely some common sense.

I kid, just had to get in on this odd OB epic thread.
TexasRebel

rusty, yes, because of a lack of an appeal process, automated law enforcement, and the civil/criminal obscurity.

This would be an officer choosing to run a 10-28 and then issuing a criminal citation to the name on the registration. Appeals would be available just the same as now. No automation involved.

You just can't grasp the concept here....no-one FORCED you to drive a vehicle unregistered. YOU and only YOU chose to get behind the wheel of that vehicle.

Where in the constitution does it say I have to have license plates? This is clearly a violation of my 17th and 23rd ammendment rights!

Ag_of_08,

you've never had to rely on a company vehicle for transportation, have you?

you can walk from home to work and then jobsite to jobsite and back home again if you wish...

or would you rather discriminate according to income?

Rebel- NO one can make you get in a vehicle, work or otherwise, that can't be legally driven. If you refuse to drive an illegal vehicle, and are fired for it, You'll be living off the suite settlement the rest of your life(right to work state or not...)
TexasRebel
How long do you want to ignore this user?
you won't be fired because you refuse to drive an unregistered vehicle. You'll lose your job sometime later for lack of productivity. Not to mention those folks that have no other transportation.
