Anyone with Bonfire confirm this?

Quote:

To those of you who support Bonfire, know that you are a critical part of this. This is what your support for these Aggies achieves, far beyond the Woods…

I got a call yesterday from a group with Kerr county's disaster response and recovery operations. They desperately needed working experience in timber, brush, and debris. Ideally, a self-directing group with an established command structure, and regular practice in inhospitable conditions. Of course, they were looking for Bonfire. Their commitment not being mine to give, I connected with student leadership to see if they were in a position and willing to help. I found that they were already in that area - without ever having been asked - and had already been working elsewhere. They were eager for an objective that best leveraged their unique abilities in service to others. They immediately connected with the coordinator. With their new mission, they flew back to Aggieland, resupplied, and an advance team was back on site that evening with equipment, and worked until dark. Coordinating with local teams, that night they refined their plans for the next day. More Aggies with the required operational experience would be joining them the next day and through the week. Having a plan to work to maximum effect and safety were imperative.

The situation is constantly changing, but as of now, they operate as a mobile tactical debris removal team, clearing the way for dogs, searchers, and rescuers. They have been briefed on what to expect. They know the hazards, but they likewise know their capacity - and so their duty - to meet them. I spoke with them last night and am struck by their resolve and sober measure of the situation and their role in it. I am in awe of their courage and selfless service, and eternally grateful for the endlessly-serving Aggies of Bonfire.

I will be connecting with them again this evening when their day's work is done to see what they need. I'll update accordingly.

If Dion says it, take it as completely legit when it comes to any matter Bonfire related.

Correct. Dion is one of the official administrators of Student Bonfire and still basically runs everything for Student Bonfire.

No need to apologize! I wasn't dinging you for repeating. Everyone said how awful it was and there were offers to help her extended family. Sounds like they were well loved.

I wish we could bookmark a specific post like that, like we can with whole topics. Would love to have that at hand the next time something happens to someone close by (as much as we hope we won't need it)

Thanks! Just felt bad about clogging up the thread with redundant information.

I'm not sure if it is accurate information or not, but I saw the names included in a post that was shared extensively a few days ago. I'm not sure if they are campers/counselors who died. It seems it was confirmed that 27 from camp mystic were found deceased as of this morning and 11 remain missing. If you add all of the names together, including the ones we have not seen, it totals 37 from camp mystic. I know that Lucy was a camper and sadly died. She is from Houston. Unsure about the others listed. Even more tragic if the information is accurate.

So glad the two of you don't consider me an invasion. We should all get together soon.

Please don't fly drones in Kerr County right now.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/19o4BEMc7x/?mibextid=

From City of Kerrville FB page

PLEASE GROUND YOUR DRONES UNTIL CURRENT FLOOD SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATIONS ARE COMPLETE

This afternoon, a private drone illegally operating in restricted airspace collided with a helicopter involved in emergency operations in Kerr County. The helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing, and a critical piece of response equipment is now out of service until further notice.

This was entirely preventable.

Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) are not suggestions. They are federal airspace rules designed to protect lives during emergency situations. When you fly a drone in restricted areas, you're not just breaking the law -- you're putting first responders, emergency crews, and the public at serious risk.

They very well could be associated. I don't see any social media posts or news articles about any of them including Lucy. Just didn't want to include hearsay. For example there was a little girl where posts where going around that she was alive… but she is not. So just trying to stay as accurate as possible.

For some reason Christian music gets a bad rap, but if ever there was a week for Texans especially to tune into SiriusXM's The Message (ch. 65), this is the time.

Thank you for linking this. Although the entirety of the post was meaningful and helpful (everyone, please read it), one sentence spoke more loudly to me:
"In our case, the miracle thousands prayed for did not happen so they became the miracle."

I believe we have witnessed thousands becoming the miracle.

I hope those who lost children, family, friends, and community members are comforted and derive strength from the anonymous thousand of us praying unceasingly for them and their loved ones.

I'm pretty sure the 11 is included in the 27. So, it isn't 37 total - it's 27 total. Just didn't want that to get repeated anymore than it already has. I think it's Cajun Navy posts that have made that mistake and it's starting to gain ground.

My first post on TexAgs in years - but following along all of this as my daughter's have been at Mystic the past 5 years - but not there this year. Thanks for this thread and all of the great information.

They had to put out notice to not put private boats in the Guadalupe, too. WTF are people thinking?

What happened to the video of the time-lapse of the flooding near LLano River near Kingsland?

Was it not legit or from a different flood event?

I was in Lago Vista. I heard Kingsland got it pretty bad. Would be difficult for me to get there because Cow Creek flooding took out FM 1431. I can only tell you it poured for 3 straight days in LV. I could believe anything. Both the Llano River and North Fork San Gabriel looked pretty outrageous.

I'm normally pretty vocal on the OB, but have just lurked this thread. It's been just crazy. All the stories just hit close to home. The hill country, and especially that area mean a lot to me. I shot my first axis in Hunt. My sister just told me yesterday that her step daughter (9 years old) was supposed to be at the camp next week. Probably in one of the bunkhouses most affected. It's just been crazy here. Been praying for everyone involved, directly or indirectly. I've got an extra chainsaw I can donate to anyone coming through Giddings that's going out there to clean up. Freshly serviced and ready to go. It's not much, but it's what I can do ASAP.

This was the most up to date source. They have been very diligent in only accepting proof from family and news. I did see Steve Noviello say that some families have reached out and requested no further news done. I can only imagine and hope that they are given peace and privacy

If its a private post, I would suggest you get a PM, especially given the reporters lurking. Not trying to derail, but looking out for the family. They deserve our respect, even if others won't.

You are doing a service for us, so its not directed as a criticism at you, but a suggestion.
