Cadaver dogs have been used to help locate Marine remains on Tarawa some 70 years after they were buried. One dog, named Buster, helped locate Cemetery 27 that held something like 40 remains. There aren't many like Buster though.

It is nice up there. I usually head to petoskey/traverse/charlevoix when we head that far north. We have a couple spots mid state on each coast we like to try and rent a cabin at once a year if we can.

I keep saying I'll make it back to Texas now that I have a few friends that live there. That heat though, I won't forget that from when I helped my buddy move there. It was the end of June and got warmer each day I was there. The day I left his car read 108 at 10 a.m. in Houston. Had his windows down, we both look at one another squinting, I ask if his eyes are burning, and he says yep. I told him good luck.

So did Wynne's parents….cant describe the sorrow.

I just saw the most poignant video of the walk of crosses which now have flags and flowers. With 'Go Rest High on That Mountain' as the background. I don't have words. It was on Instagram.

Saw this comment on FB by a Twin's 2 mom about her daughter who survived: "She was able to make it out of Twins 2 alive. Swimming out her cabin window, floating on a mattress and swimming to a tree down past Bug House. One of the girls with her had a flashlight and helped guide them to the tree. They sat in the tree for 2+ hours waiting to be rescued from the tree."

Someone upthread asked why some girls in the affected cabins were able to survive.

Cile and Virginia were both in twins cabins (both in twins 2 together) and as of yesterday at least were still unrecovered. There has been some confusion because both families have posted gofundmes essentially confirming the reality that they are presumed deceased, but neither girl has been recovered in order to lay to rest.

It is incredible the search has recovered as many as they have, from the sounds of it. God willing they will both be found as well.

I MIGHT be mistaken, but remember the picture of the two young blonde girls in the helicopter that led to confusion that some lost girls had been found alive? I want to say I read those were twins girls who had been in a tree or something similar. Could be wrong, but those girls in that photo looked about the right age.

The Hollis and Steward families posted gofundmes, yes. It feels wrong to post just theirs without all the girls', maybe I will collect the memorial info I can find for all girls.

There is a friend of Virginia's family who posts on this thread, and can probably confirm, but I saw posts from friends in Bellville yesterday that she is still missing.

I have seen several families have already established foundations in their daughters' names.

I haven't seen any crowd-funding solicitations.

Gofundme is usually pretty good about shutting it down and preventing funds from going to scammers if they are alerted to it by the alleged beneficiary. If you know the family, I would reach out just to make sure they are aware of it and know the organizer. The one for Virginia Hollis is organized by somebody named Shara Ticku in NYC. Based on some googling, it appears she is from San Antonio and went to tu, but not sure what her connection to the family in Bellville might be.
