What people hunt out of today is mind boggling to me. When I was a kid, my dad and I would sit under the base of a tree on an old boat cushion out in Mason County. It was just us, our guns, and nature. We killed a lot of deer like that. Some of my best memories with my dad were spent there. I thought it was great.
I mean, I first hunted on the ground and on "lean-to" blinds in Arkansas and had a blast, but that doesn't mean I am going to hunt that way my entire life. If I have the means and ability to hunt out of a blind and keep me and my kids out of the elements, why not do that?
I am not going to stick to the old ways of doing things just because of nostalgia...
This.
I mean, back in the old days we didn't have 95% of the creature comforts we have that everybody uses every day - like computers, air conditioning, an unbelievable selection of food, internet, etc.
And I guarandamntee you that if most of those old timers that we think fondly of had the opportunity to hunt out of a comfortable dry blind instead of one that leaked when it rained and had a 5 gallon bucket instead of a chair - they are choosing the comfortable dry blind.
But this is the OB, so I digress. If you aren't hunting in a loin cloth and camoflauging yourself with a combination of deer poo, mud and leaves you rolled around in and then sitting precariously on a tree branch to attack your prey the old way, you are just a soft newfangled kid that doesn't appreciate nature.
