I've noticed a trend of baseball purists and elitists hating on the Bananas, not only on this board but on FB. The Bananas are the biggest thing in sports right now. A lot of that reason is because it is not a typical sport and it connects with a whole new audience, and it also connects with those who do love baseball and understand that these guys really are true athletes.

It's really hard to hate on something as pure and wholesome as Banana Ball. Lord knows they treat their fans better than any college or pro team, that's for sure. They keep bucking the system on how things are done, and they keep winning.

They have:
1. Fair prices, and created their own resale website to kill the scalper industry.
2. No sponsors whatsoever
3. Family friendly entertainment
4. All their games are free to watch online or on ESPN sometimes
5. They created their own non-profit for Foster kids: Bananas Foster
6. The list goes on and on

I think some people think it's cool to hate on something because its different, but like someone said...they sound like a stick in the mud.

The reality is....there is more hype and more money being spent on the Bananas this weekend than all of the other sports playing. They might even make more money for the city this weekend than some football weekends.

Is there a traffic pattern map posted online anywhere for after the game tonight? I have to pick people up after the game.

Edit: I know I have to pick them up in Lot 30e, but are there restrictions on which direction you must drive in from and then out?

When they do traffic control after football it is announced days in advance. Nothing was announced this week.

Looks like they are setting stuff up on the stage at the amphitheater in Aggie park. It's lit up with stuff on it and people walking around, at least. And testing a fog machine.

Crazy they only have one area to refill sodas on an entire side every time I went to get a refill there was a minimum of 10 people in each line. The actual concessions were even worse. Guess I haven't been to a football game in a while. Have beers been $17 for a while? I remember griping when they were $8.

My 4 year old had a blast and that's all that matters. No chance I'd voluntarily do it again though.

I agree about the on-field entertainment. The kids had a great time and everyone around us was smiling and enjoying the experience. It's the logistics side of things that A&M just flat cannot perform to expectations. The traffic control and the concessions are the two that stick out at just about every on-campus event we attend. You pre-pay for on-campus parking and then look at what happens. I'm not complaining about quality but look at your bill when all you get is a drink and popcorn. Over the years, Aggie events logistically have been the worst experiences of any I've had except the one year that we went to see the Ags play the Hogs at Jerry World. I haven't been back to Jerry's World since either.

We parked in the Southside garage but hung out in Aggie Park for the post game concert. No lines and no cluster by the time we walked to the car.

Who was the concert?

Just the Texas tailgater band that played pregame in the stadium.

Broadcast said the last football stadium they played in was Clemson's. No idea if there are others.

Beer and food concessions were no problem on 1st deck but my god the soda line was crazy.

The shuttle bus line was unbelievably long so we started to walk to hotel. Asked a rickshaw guy how much it would be to ride from MSC to Northgate for 4 of us, $80. Told him he lost his mind.

One of those guys almost got killed at the intersection of Texas and Holleman yesterday. Riding in the bike lane and ignoring traffic lights is not a good idea.
