Went to Osteria di Mercato last night. Really enjoyed it - small (maybe 24 seats and very loud. Pasta was very good with rich sauces. Will go back.
What do you boys want for breakfast BBQ ?.....OK Chili.

Went last night for soft opening at Hey Darling Saloon on N. Main.

Cool little new lounge spot. Big open patio, huge TV. Good little getaway from the craziness of 20th st and white oak

Dropped by yesterday and agree. Great patio. 3rd floor rooftop patio in a spot where there's still some views that aren't blocked by apartment towers yet. The owner/mgr I met is a Stratford grad, for us local snobs.

Starduster was cool, though you might have to wait a while if there's a group in front of you ordering from the fancy cocktail menu. The mix of music they were playing was pretty interesting.

He was nice. I haven't lived in the Heights in a while, but I'll make a point to stop by. Just happened to be on my way somewhere else yesterday and had time to stop by when I saw the place.

The location seems cursed. I used to live 2 blocks away and used to go to the old school Mexican restaurant there 20+ years ago. Glad to hear soemthing promising went in. I'll definitely give it a shot as I'm still closeby. Straftford grad notwithstanding...

Anyone been to Lazy Lane in Garden Oaks? Any good? Nancy's Hustle was already booked for the night we wanted.

We had a great dinner here. I had the scallops and they were freakin amazing. Seared perfectly. Very good drinks.

Pretty cool that is also within walking distance of other bars, etc on Wakefield.

What's everyone's opinions on Squable?

It's been years since I've been to Squable, but it was outstanding every time I went. Good for a date or meeting people socially. Basically, small menu, small wine list, but well done or well selected.

It's usually great. One of my favorite spots - wish I went more often.

It's a great dinner spot if you like interesting wine lists and shared plates. The mussels toast is one of my favorite dishes from anywhere in town.

Been craving a good muffuletta. Any recommendations? Hot or cold works. Both Paulie's and Angelo'z seem like good options.

Updated reply: had one from Ragin' Cajun on Richmond this wknd. Pretty good; the olive salad tasted like Central Grocery. Came on a sesame bu.

Did Shredder's Pizza tonight. Replaced Chicago Beef over on Airline. Pretty good. Nice NY Style pizza. Parmesan knots loaded with garlic, butter, and a huge amount of parmesan cheese.

Will add to the pizza rotation.

Matty G's closed. Not surprising, but unfortunate. Had pretty good burgers, but $20+ burgers are hard to sell. Even in the Heights.

Supposedly turning into a Mediterranean restaurant next.

Couldn't compete with Someburger.

I predict the same fate for the Mediterranean place, but I guess the sushi place next door has been hanging on for a bit.

The sushi place has been there a couple years now, but that spot when through 3-4 different things before it went in.

Candente should kill it in that new spot.

Isn't that where the Greek spot Helen in the Heights was? I remember it being good.

This is at 11th and Studewood, just behind Someburger. Think this Mediterranean place will be the 4th or 5th concept in that spot in five years.

McDonald's is frying up some apple pies to honor America's 250th birthday.
The company said Tuesday it's bringing back fried apple pies for the first time in more than three decades. They'll be available at most U.S. restaurants for a limited time starting June 23.
