The Heights, like anywhere else, just really wants decent food at a decent price with decent service.

You miss out on one of those and you won't last long.

It doesn't really matter if it's a "chain" or not.

For every Goode Co and Dish Society there's Savoir along with Field and Tides.

There is the rent element as well but that's a slightly different variable.

Just provide decent food at a decent price with decent service and it'll likely last.

Wait, don't tell me that Field and Tides closed.

I was talking about Jeni's ice cream. Does its 100 nation wide locations meet your definition of chain?

Ah I thought it you meant Jenni's Noodle House.

Jeni's ice cream is the GOAT and well worth the $20 per pint price.

Still there. Had it last week.

Coltivare is a prime example that got it right.

Sure, if you are in to perfectly average Italian food.

1. My backyard
2. L'Ombra del Gallo; a little place I frequent on Lake Como. The Moroccan Lamb braised in eel tears and the perspiration of the local sex workers is to die for.
3. Da Marco.
4. Coltivare

Can someone please explain why Dona Letis is popular with a certain demographic? The one in Meyerland is constantly packed.

Also saw on their website tipping is optional.

Not for long on Savoir if they can't get their service complaints straightened out. Heights Foodies on Facebook are constantly going after them for that the last few weeks.

I should hunt down the post I made about this place years ago. It was an evening of burnt, yet undercooked food and listening to people talk about cocaine-fueled sex parties.

Coltivare is so bad/average, it's been consistently busy for 10+ years.

That's a line I heard on a black woman's TikTok review of the restaurant.

Anyone tried the new Texadelphia yet?

Might have missed a review in the chain/mom and pop discussion along with Coltivare blows yet somehow is always crowded due to groups that love sex and cocaine.

We went the other day, it was good, but I think they need some more time to get everything straightened out.

We go there a lot, but they don't have cheesesteaks, although I'm sure if they did, it would be pretty good.

Hit Texadelphia yesterday and it was fine. About like I remember but the bread wasn't as crunchy. It wasn't soggy at all but for some reason I thought I remember it having a crunch to it.

Food and service was good. Got there a little after 6:00 and was gone by 6:45. We were on our way to Aggieland for the weekend so it was perfect.

Will definitely go back when I get the hankering.

Wasn't crowded at all. The bar seats were full and it made me wonder if it's the same people that have set there for the last decade or so.

The iteration of whatever that place may change, but the butts in those barstools keep staying the same…

Yeah it's been a while so think I just thought it had some crunch. It's been a decade since I've had one.

I love Pappa Geno's but do like the chips and queso option at Texadelphia.

And also as referenced - Cold Beer.

The ones on Smith and Montrose recently remodeled to effectively be a takeout counter with no seating inside. I'm sure that did good things for their revenue.

And cheap cold beer on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday/Saturdays after 8. Pickleball after shaking beef and beer will be interesting.

The one on Louisiana did this several years ago too, probably cause so many homeless folks were hanging out inside.
